Paul's post game comments...

“We won two out of three this weekend, and we won six of our 10 SEC series this year. I think we’ve demonstrated we can play with anybody; we’ve hung tough all year. The regular-season is in the books, and now the fun begins with the postseason.”
I know I'll get bashed for this by the CPM homers, but Paul's comments, especially the second sentence, from yesterday are kinda disturbing if you ask me. I guess it shows where we've regressed from over the course of the season.

He isn’t wrong. We’ve fought through adversity in regards to injury since very early in the season. At one point, half our roster was out due to injury. Although this season has been disappointing, I have to give these kids credit. They did fight through some tough times.

I down voted. There are way too many of y’all on here that read way too much into coaches’ comments.
There is nothing wrong with what he said. And nowhere in his statements did he say he was satisfied or content with how the results of the season played out. He simply said we played hard (despite having to overcome a lot of obstacles, which is an implied statement) and still finished in a good position to go make some noise in the postseason.
What did you want him to say? “Well, you know, we really sucked this season and lost too many games for an LSU team that has fans with unreasonable expectations at times. But it’s the postseason now, so let’s go see if we can be better.”

Should we NOT expect to be able to play with anybody?!?

I upvoted as well. Like i said at the end of Miles career, these coaches (Miles & PM) expect less and less as their careers go on.
Give me a young coach, that expects to win every damn game. Enough with this shite, oh we showed we could play with anyone. No shite? You're LSU baseball, you should beat everyone you play. These comments set the table for the players to think it's okay to drop a few games here and there. These older coaches can do a great job recruiting and bringing in the best talent possible, however they lack the fire and the intensity to brain wash these players into thinking they should beat the shite out of every time.

It's not just about his comments after games, it's about his body language and intensity. (IMO) I agree that you can't look into everything he says, but some shite he says makes you question the fire he has remaining.
Paul could have said something along the lines of "You know we play to win every game, every inning, and every pitch during the season. At times we have faced some depth issues due to injuries, but we have continued to fight each weekend. We have given ourselves an opportunity to go to Hoover and show everyone what we can do."
Imo, he lacks the fire that he probably had at a younger age. Not taking anything away from PM, as he has won a ton of ball games at LSU.

Yes we should and Mainieri thinks they should. He was pointing out that they demonstrated it throughout the year. There are way too many legitimate criticisms of CPM to where you don’t have to read into every post game comment and find something.

Unreasonable? Expecting an LSU team to at least host a regional is not unreasonable. Especially when every single expert had us at least top 3 in the country to begin the season. And considering all of our stud position guys came back.

I’m not a PM fan but what did he say wrong? You don’t expect a coach to put his team down when hoping to get a regional do you?

Typical Paul making excuses. Why don’t you actually coach and get these guys to play better. We are LSU injuries should not ruin our season.
You see how easy that was to twist. After every loss this season someone has took a snippet of his post game and made it a negative.

I down voted too.
PM can’t win. He get criticized for a positive statement and he gets criticized for negative statements and accused of throwing players under the bus.
This statement was rather bland; yet people jump him. It’d ridiculous how some act.

I don’t believe anything Paul Mainieri says.

He says this basically every pregame & Monday night radio show
It’s obvious you don’t follow the program very close, that’s ok, not everyone listens to the game on the radio or the Monday night show, I happen to either be in the car or listening for a specific answer

His comments demonstrate his problem. Accepting mediocrity should never be a quality in any coach at any level. Especially ones that are making a million dollars.
Woodward needs to have a come to Jesus meeting with him.

Would you have rather he trashed his team in front of reporters

It’s more of accepting reality. He didn’t have his weekend starting rotation together after, what seemed like, week 2.

We have a top three recruitering class every year and we have an intimidator and we can play with anybody!
