Paul Skenes has had the best start to a MLB career of any pitcher ever.

We are so lucky to have had him in purple and gold.

The dude is legitimately insane. The jump he made from Air Force to LSU once he focused on pitching is ridiculous.

He was legitimately one of, if not the best, pitcher in all of baseball while he was in college. That is incredibly rare.

He's pretty good at baseball

He has continued this trend from LSU to the majors. The numbers he’s putting up in MLB are even more insane than the stats when he was here.

Yet a lot of people argued on this site taking crews over skenes was the better move in the draft lol

pitching ninja tunneling videos of skenes are INSANE! every pitch looks the same up to 15' in front of the plate then they all go different directions. all varying from mid 80's to low 100's. its just stupid

So did a lot of MLB scouts

I’ve seen these videos.
I honestly have no idea how anyone hits him…
I guess you just pic a spot, swing and hope the ball is there, because you just don’t know where it is breaking.

Not many people argued this.

It only takes one person to say something to start a rant narrative. Sometimes nobody even says it, the rant narrative simply becomes self-aware

_________
Had not heard of these and just watched a couple. 20 inches of movement is not fair. And can hit triple digits on next pitch. And we know what he hits at home for some lagniappe

Yeah the release points for all his pitches are almost identical, they go in multiple different directions with 15-20 inches of break, vary from 85-102 mph, and he throws strikes at will.
Good luck with that!
Good luck with that!

he’s honestly significantly better just 2 years later
his ability to develop pitches is wildZ
He hadn’t thrown that splinker before the pros.
that slider keeps getting better.

This was after last night’s game as well:

Skenes has not permitted more than six hits in any of his 35 starts, a major league record to begin a career.

Pittsburgh knows they will not be able to afford him when it comes time for the big bag. I expect that Pittsburgh will trade him prior to his contract's end, so they can get value for the team in the trade market.

...and he's 2-4 in his last eight starts (with an ERA of 1.64) b/c the Pirates suck arse

Add to all this the fact that he seems to be a respectful, decent person. Has to have the proudest parents of all time.

I keep wondering how long he'll be in Pittsburgh. How long can they keep him? Would love for my Braves to snag him somehow.
