Can't use our best closer to close because he pitched yesterday.

-Instead pitches someone who pitched yesterday whose not a good pitcher and walks the game away.

Can't start Arnold, our hottest bat from yesterday, because other guys need reps.

-Denies reps to other players and starts Helmers again. Yesterday he went 0 for with fielding errors, promptly goes 0 for and has 3 errors today.

Can't let a hot relief pitcher throw more than 1 inning in a close game because the other pitchers need their inning to develop and build confidence.

-walks the game away in the 9th after 8 innings of solid pitching.

It's game 2 and he's already in mid season form.

Supporters will say Paul always does this to find the right lineup and get hot in the postseason.

That happened one time in 10+ years.

He’s 100% reactionary, nothing he does is tied to any philosophy or discipline. He’s flies by the seat of his pants because he’s got so many deficiencies in his coaching ability.

I know some of you retards may not understand this, but Fontenot is more important to our season long success and has more of a future in baseball than George.

You can quibble with whether he should have been used at all yesterday, but not pitching him today was the right move.

I just find it hilarious to use the argument that PM was trying to see what George could do. The kid is a senior. You could use that argument if PM had let Floyd battle out of it but he let George walk in the go ahead run before anyone was warming.

It was just 2 days ago I got bitched at for mentioning CPM pulls pitchers too early. Money has a strong inning. Pull him.

He’s absolutely reactionary. Having a plan for the pitchers would have meant someone other than George coming in today.

Any argument for putting George in that doesn’t mention panic and getting hot in a hurry is null and void.

He flat out shouldn’t have gone in. He’s 50/50 on being able to find the plate and he’s never been good with inherited runners. Even yesterday.

ETA: but none of that means that Fontenot should have thrown today.

This is top level D1 college baseball. It's ok to expect 40 pitches per week from your all American closer. If anything your prohibiting Fontenot's development by not allowing him to do the one job that he has.

He knows what George can do and what Fontenot can do.
No way was Fontenot pitching today. No way was he taking a chance on injury. If George is injured it’s no big deal. That’s obvious.

No Hal actually was good with his glove. Hellmers can’t field a routine ground ball

He knows George isn’t very good, but he really wanted Floyd to step up. When he didn’t we were screwed and left with George.

He should have flipped the 9th inning pitching rotation yesterday and today! Play to win, not to experiment!
