This is kind of the ultimate version of Paul logic. Vietmeier has been getting an inning or two of work his whole career (now a senior) to develop him for a pressure situation where we need a few good relief innings. He gets the call and pitches a great inning and is pulled. For Trent, when is his payoff? He's been doing his inning here, inning there thing for years and finally has a shot to use his skills and gets pulled for doing well.

When he didn’t we were screwed and left with George.
Didnt know he was our only option after just 17 innings into the season.

And unlimited roster for the season. We laughed at Missouri yesterday, apparently they’re laughing at us today.

They got drummed by Grand Canyon to open the season. They shouldn’t be laughing at anyone.

The plan was one inning. Understand the process. It’s preseason in a sense.

I agree that fontenots success long term is more important than today’s game. My question is this. If fontenot is the closer, which he is, then why pitch him in a non close situation game yesterday? You keep him for a close situation and if one doesn’t come up over the weekend then you give him an inning in the last game of the series. PM has no rhyme or reason to anything he does

If you’re going to panic and be unsafe with anyone’s arm, make sure it’s someone you won’t rely on later.

This is the real issue.

If you’re going to be a bad coach, at least be logical about it.

Can't let a hot relief pitcher throw more than 1 inning in a close game because the other pitchers need their inning to develop and build confidence.

This! CPM may have the worst pitching philosophy in the country.

No, I used the word retards because you can’t understand the logic I presented. I used logic, but it went over your head because you’re a remedial mouth breather.

Any argument for putting George in that doesn’t mention panic and getting hot in a hurry is null and void. He flat out shouldn’t have gone in. He’s 50/50 on being able to find the plate and he’s never been good with inherited runners. Even yesterday. ETA: but none of that means that Fontenot should have thrown today.

And now we know, he’s not a reliable/quality arm.
Same way we learned that Hellermers definitely doesn’t belong on the hot corner...

Good thing though that we learned such quality information during a meaningless; essentially “scrimmage” type of game.
Now your argument could/would be a little valid if in the future we see these same kids in the same roles, showing that PM learned nothing... but I doubt it. PM is only the most winningest coach in college baseball for a reason....

You can quibble with whether he should have been used at all yesterday, but not pitching him today was the right move.

Yeah, you can STTDB!!!!

That is why is nothing more than Les Miles in a baseball uniform, and always will be. One of these days, the LSU leadership will realize that our fans and program deserves better, much better.

Pm trust instincts which are wrong most of the time. Just because Hellmers can field 20 balls in practice doesn’t mean he is ready to play third in a game. The kid Thompson had 1 ball hit at him and made a great play. Pretty sure he can also field 20 practice ground balls cleanly.
