Forde has always been a bombastic drama queen. But for journalists, this is now their job.

This is a good point. The establishment doesn't really get mad at institutional cheating... hell, the system depends on it. So the teams that get hammered tend to be the ones that aren't "supposed" to be good. It's why UNLV got the hammer in the early 90s while Duke and UNC skated. Or SMU football getting destroyed while Texas and A&M got slaps on the wrists.
They are going after LSU not so much because they hate LSU, but that's how you protect Duke, Arizona, and Kentucky. There are far more receipts on Zona, but that's not the story, they are supposed to be good. There's more smoke at Duke, but they have to protect that cash cow. And to Duke's credit, they have had this machine rolling for 30 years, it would be a near impossible nut to crack even by the most dogged reporter.
So they go after LSU so they can get a high profile scalp and then end the story there. We caught 'em, all the cheating is gone. We got the bad guy, and it's Will Wade. and everyone else can keep on doing what they've been doing. Well, except Louisville. That must really chap Forde's arse.
