Has Saban retired before? I don't believe he has.

I prefaced this by saying you need to ask Casey why did he retire and how many more years does he want to coach.

Does he want a head job just anywhere or arguably the top job in college baseball ?

Gautreau will be a head coach in a year. He’s not taking another assistant job in the SEC away from Starkville. That’s just not going to happen. He’ll coach very very soon.

If he's banking on a top tier SEC job, he'll wait.

The 5 year comp doesn’t hold water in baseball considering the first recruiting class that is completely his won’t even arrive on campus for three years.

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on transfer portal rules

He would almost have to surround himself with local assistants, or at least some familiar with the south.

So someone like everyone’s favorite Nolan Cain?

Only way i see him accepting that is if he is given the job within 3 years, which means casey only coaches 2 years. I just dont see it

Tough to call a 3 time champ hire a dud. I have my issues with it but there are worse moves on the table…Bianco

Say goodbye to my meager donations and attendance at games if they hire the guy who was ok with playing a pedophile. We need to do better.

Woodward isn’t hiring a younger guy “and let’s just hope.”

That isn’t what the big checks for Jimbo and Mulkey were about
How many people did he hire off their couch? I saw an article earlier today from the time he retired that speculated he had been mulling it for several years even before he went through with it. Wanted to coach but didn’t like the year long grind.

Shaky at best before even considering the Heimlich stuff.

This is fricking bullshite. We’re really going to hire a coach who allowed a convicted sex offender to play for him?

frick every bit of this

Exactly. Only reason Gaut leaves is for an SEC HC gig. If y’all take Sully or Tony I could easily see him filling their hole.

If you think Godwin and Vitello are both "let's just hope" candidates then you're an idiot and if Woodward doesn't consider them and ends up hiring fricking Bianco then he isn't who we thought he was. Out of the two Godwin is more likely as I don't think vitello is on the radar.

Jimbo and Mulkey also weren't coming out of retirement.

No, there is no ambiguity in that statement. You aren’t going to build a class through the portal.
