Is it the quarterback or is it bad route combos. If I'm Coach Kelly I tell Denbrook find a way to get the ball to Boutte. Our Passing game is as bad or worse than it was last year.

Yes. Hopefully Howard is the real deal.

Just need to spread the field sideline to sideline thus creating space for playmakers with 4 WR sets.

Eliminate the drop back scanning the field looking for limited targets.

Daniel's would excel in this type of system, less thinking is involved.

Daniel’s is a problem. Playcalling has been bad as well but WR are open at the same time. You have a QB who can’t read a defense and won’t let it rip. He’s an athlete, not a QB.

I think it really starts with the scheme. it sucks. He has problems running denbrock's offense where he has to make a lot of reads. he is indecisive and won't pull the trigger. it's like he is afraid to make a mistake.

paralysis by analysis.

denbrock has to simplify the offense for both qb's. pitch and catch. easy throws to WR's in space. quick passes. the WR's actually catching the ball would help a lot too.

daniels threw the ball over 20 yards in the air vs auburn 1 time and got a PI from it. I'm not sure how many times he's thrown it deep this season but I don't think it's been over 3 times total. The offense isn't challenging the defensive secondary downfield at all.

TLDR: the scheme is terrible. daniels has been inaccurate. the WR/TE have the drops.

Part of the problem

When you have a qb who won't throw the ball it handcuffs you.

He does need to change up his system but at this point he isn't going to.

You can't make Jayden throw it if he's uncertain of himself. Frustrating as hell to know we have these playmaker WR's on the outside and can't get them the ball in space.

Right now it's a couple of different things. Daniels not trusting his own decision making, drops, scheme, etc. This season we will need to rely on the run to open up the pass, and not the other way around.

Calling plays is not the problem. Daniels is not a passer, I don’t care what scheme is used.

Agreed. Especially early in the game. We need both Daniels and our WRs to get into a rhythm early. The ball should come out quick, and Daniels should know exactly where he is going with the ball based on his pre-snap read.

We run short passing routes but Daniels doesn't always pull the trigger on those as well.

Sometimes there is a defender within 10 yards, others he will keep it and run if the yards to gain are equal.

Its everything. Not just JD, not just coaching, PFF had LSU with 7 drops Saturday. That is significant.

This. It’s not the scheme… I went back and watched the skycam replay of the game and probably 90% of the passing plays the qb was at fault. Now I think JD is an awesome teammate, a leader, and plays with everything he has. But what he’s doing now is not playing QB well at all. Our offense will not look better until he, or someone else starts getting the ball to our players. He lacks confidence in throwing the ball, and trusts his legs more than anything. He’s unintentionally being a ball-hog, and I can understand why there would be frustration if I were a WR.

He would look at the right WR, but didn’t pull the trigger, this probably happened the most (so frustrating to watch AU’s third string QB make some of the throws between zone defenders that our starter wouldn’t even attempt).

He straight up missed on the throw a few times, and I know he’s been more accurate than that, still think it’s a lack of confidence in throwing leading to bad throws.
The only WR he throws to if a defender is near is Nabors. He rarely tried to look for Boutte even in 1v1 coverage. Jaray was probably in 1v1 the most, and I’m not sure he was targeted but maybe once?

Talking about more simple plays, on a third and long, they ran a roll out pass to the right with only TWO routes to read, one high, one low. The routes are the exact same, other than the depth. Both routes draw the same coverage, man. JD throws the under route before the deep route even gets to his break (which would’ve been a 1st down). Both were open, simple read, stupid decision - we punt. Just one example. As with any team, the QB play will mostly determine the production of the offense.

Watch the Skycam view of the game. WR's are open. Taylor is open all the fricking time. Our QB isn't seeing the field.
