The only thing your franchise QB should be focused on right now is preparing for the upcoming season.

I can assure you guys like Allen, Darnold, burrow, mahomes, Herbert, Jackson aren’t worried about what their colleges are up to. They’re dialed in. JD is not. This dude is clearly all about himself.

When this broke Thursday morning, I posted his only way out was to throw his team under the bus. He did not. Instead, he's on day three of terrible press. Opposing stadiums are going to be merciless.
He's let it go too long, which means he's getting terrible advice and/or he is too close to the "advisors" who put him here to backtrack.
I think we're here because one or more "advisor" saw #5 was given out and convinced Daniels he should be upset about it. He is prepping for the season and probably said, "Whatever, go ahead". I seriously doubt he instigated this or fully knew what was going on until it was too late. But now he can't go against his team so he's taking all the heat and has probably burned the LSU bridge for good.
The great advice "You don't go into business with family and friends" is certainly appropriate in this case it appears.

Publicity nightmare for JD. I think LSU will leave the door open for him to make a big public apology in the very near term and let this thing fade away if he does (not that I agree with that approach). However, I’m guessing his camp is trying to make this about more than a jersey number, in which case LSU will comply with the C&D and completely disassociate with JD. Regardless, JD has 100% lost the LSU fanbase.
Believe it or not, this probably had to be referred to the Attorney General and de facto to the Governor. I’d bet we could all predict the Governor’s response.

Agree, he Ryan Clark’d himself. Former athletes have done some crazy things but still maintained loyalty from the LSU fans. Can’t walk this one back & commenting only made it worse; he wanted it handled privately? Lol, nothing screams private more than a C&D. This is petty, but I hope DJ has a stellar career and we retire HIS jersey.

For those of us old enough to remember, QB Bert Jones and LSU had a falling out (though not at this level) that lasted for years.
Eventually they kissed and made up and now Bert’s jersey will be honored this season.
We need to chill and let emotions settle here. JD5 will return to the fold eventually.
PS: if anyone should feel slighted by LSU it is DT Glenn Dorsey who (next to Burrow) is the most decorated LSU player of all time.
