But we do need to look at cutting expenses somewhere in there if we're losing that much money
I believe that the non revenue sports and these sports hemoraging money have taken advantage of the situation, but now that we have revenue sharing things need to change.

Nobody’s buying purple and gold gear because of women’s basketball they’re just LSU super fans who would root for chess match if lsu was in it.
As much as several posters here try to push women’s basketball like it’s the greatest thing on the face of the Earth. It’s about like gymnastics.
I don’t care how many seats they put in the PMAC. It still sucks and in the grand scheme of things, nobody gives a shite.
Henceforth money loser… 8mill though… geeez.

Baseball has bigger travel team than WBB. They also play way many more games. The number should be closer to each other.
2025-LSU Baseball had 3.5 million in season ticket revenue. WBB had 1.6 million.

Lamont Paris makes $4.25 million and Dawn Staley makes $4 million.
Funny how LSU and South Carolina have consistently been the worst men's basketball programs in the SEC over the past 5 or so years.

Because despite how popular they try to tell you it is, the media rights distributions are absolute shite (because the ad rates are shite, because the audience is shite).

In the last five fiscal years, almost all LSU athletic teams except for football and men’s basketball have consistently operated at a deficit, with women's basketball typically losing the most. For the most recent reporting period (Fiscal Year 2025), only football and men's basketball reported a profit, while every other program recorded a loss.
Sports Operating at a Deficit (FY 2025)
According to the 2025 NCAA financial report, the following programs spent more than they generated:
Women's Basketball: $7,961,248 loss. Despite high ticket sales and championship success, the lack of media-rights revenue and high coaching salaries contribute to this being the campus's largest deficit sport.
Track and Field & Cross Country: ~$3,391,604 loss for both men's and women's teams.
Softball: $3,043,303 loss.
Gymnastics: $2,923,687 loss.
Volleyball: $2,221,096 loss.
Soccer: $2,545,666 loss.
Baseball: $921,607 loss. While baseball has been profitable in some years (e.g., following its 2023 National Title run), it operated at a deficit in both FY 2024 (~$1.9M) and FY 2025.
Other Olympic Sports: Men's and women's golf, tennis, and swimming and diving all reported individual losses between $1.2 million and $1.8 million.
Historical Trends (Last 5 Years)
COVID-19 Impact (FY 2021): The athletic department as a whole lost $81 million in revenue due to the pandemic. During this period, football was the only sport to remain profitable.
Men's Basketball: Unlike other secondary sports, it has maintained a profit for four straight years (FY 2022–2025), largely due to more favorable media rights distributions.
Departmental Balance: Overall, LSU Athletics narrowly broke even in 2025 with a total surplus of only $28,604, as the $66.8 million profit from football effectively subsidized the combined ~$30 million deficit of all other sports.

I’d be fine with baseball losing more money. Let’s stock up on talent.

And you saddle yourself with a ton of long term debt which over time eats up any increase in short term profit. You would have to charge a huge amount of money for the new seats which probably doesn't happen because of politics.
