We don’t make contested catches down the field . I would say this tho . Ole miss was holding a lot on Defense and Offense .

I wouldn’t throw another pass to Hilton. He might get open over the top for a second but Nuss will either over throw him or under throw him and Hilton can’t catch for shite.

Our WR room is too short. Seriously. Can you ever remember having two primary receivers under 6 feet tall? Sharp isn’t what we thought so he’s no help. Basically you have two really short receivers, a tight end that is ok at best, a track star, and a 6’7” guy we use near the goal line when everyone on the planet knows we’re throwing to him. Just saying.

Been saying this forever he hurts the team each time they throw to him. Been like that his entire career here with the exception of the OU game. He's simply not a WR.

Going back to at least the Jerel Myers years when LSU didn’t have any horses at the position it seemed, I can’t remember a wide receiver that adjusted his routes as poorly as Hilton. He just doesn’t have the “it” factor to nab a ball out of the air in his vicinity.

LSU doesn't have a game changer at WR or RB. It's been a long time since you could say that.

Nuss issues aside, our WRs have been very unimpressive.

They only run Hilton on go routes and deep curls…no crossing or combination routes. It makes it easier to defend his side of the field

AA is an overachiever, but not really a WR1. When Parker is healthy he looks good. We don’t really have great medium sized to big WR’s. I hoped Nic Anderson would fill that role, but he’s had drop issues.

I'm of the belief it's scheme is the problem for our Rbs. the reason because of the blocking scheme they run at LSU and BK has not changed it since he has been here. That's why they all struggle to run block no matter the OL you have in but at times they will blow them off the ball with aggression. It's scheme and coaching.

Same thing for RBs. They all look like they have terrible vision. Well, that's partly because of blocking schemes. Depending on how you run zone blocks or man block schemes this has a direct impact on the RB. BK is such a terrible coach at recognizing problems and proactively fixing them before they're an epidemic. All the RBs under him have struggled at LSU. This is not coincidence.

Maybe Jarvis and OBJ? They were not tall but were elite route runners. And Jarvis wasn't gonna lose too many contested balls.

We actually do well with deep crossing routes. Nuss is late or distracted due to crappy blocking and reluctance to run to keep drives alive

I think that was OM game plan. Hold, grab whatever, make the refs call it everytime, of course, they will not. So they got a few PI and holds early but the refs stopped calling it because the penalties would get too lopsided for one team. Actually good strategy. Challenge the refs but do not allow any catches....and imho, it worked, and we will probably see more of that as the season goes on.....unless BK brings it up and challenges the refs to call every play as it unfolds...which of course he will not.....so expect more of the same.
