Or lack there of. I can get onboard with some of the positive predictions people are throwing out there for the state game but until I see some sort of an established rushing attack I’m going to stay very cautious and realistic. I don’t think enough is being made about this. I get JD has been padding our stats but it is a bit concerning especially for a qb who needs some weight taken off his shoulders

Yeah, right now our best running back is our quarterback. Hopefully John Emery can emerge.

I think it will improve as our o-line gels.

Yes. The issue is likely not who the running back is, but how the offensive line is playing. Thus, it appears it will take some time. Let’s hope that time is measured in weeks and not months or years.

Padding the stats? When he runs with the ball, do those yards count differently than if someone else runs? Like if he runs for 8 yards, do the refs then back it up 3 yards because he’s a QB? If he’s running the ball, does he have to go 15 yards instead of 10 to get a first down? I don’t understand. A rushing yard is a rushing yard. Also, a rushing yard is the same distance as a passing yard.

Thus far, Daniels is our rushing attack. Emery had never had a better opportunity to be "the guy". If our OL can help him get to the 2nd level, he is in the position to shine.

i think he was implying that a ton of JD's "rushing" yards are coming on passing plays that break down. i think we're all happy with his extending the play capabilities but it does lend concern to pass blocking and the fact our designed running plays aren't producing like we'd all like....but your point, yes, his yards are real yards.

I hope so, but we cant really blame the other running backs for the poor running game. The O-line has been atrocious.

The inability to run will bite us in the arse the most on short yardage and near the goal line situations. Especially near the end zone it is very difficult to pass.

We will need to rush over 100 yards to win this game. We cannot be one dimensional. JE needs to get the rock early and often along with AG. Cannot put all the rushing yards on JD, running out of the pocket.
