And here we are playing Aggy, shite times all around.

I'd rather start with those weirdos like we used to and finish with a decent Tulane like UGA does with GT.

Why don't we play tulane every year?

But they’re better than Southern(lol), UAB, and NM. And aTm but we can’t control that one.

Once upon a time, back when Tulane was a school of mostly students from New Orleans and Louisiana, the greenies were fun to close out the year playing. Then they decided to change everything.

They hired a series of doche bags as Presidents, like Emon Kelly, who de-emphasized athletics, and wanted to focus on attracting east coast students that couldn’t get into the ivy’s or 2nd tier private schools up north.

When that happened, Tulane football couldn’t draw 10,000 fans to games in the Dome, but still demanded a home and home schedule with LSU which meant we lost a ton of money every other year. That was their choice, but we made a business decision in response back when we were not nearly as financially secure as now.

Also, the dumbasses never should have left the SEC to begin with!

Do we play at their stadiums?

Tulane wants a home and home and there is no way LSU is going to do that, so we rent the UABs of the world instead.

I don’t understand the obsession with Tulane? No one gives a shite about playing Tulane. Tulane football is not equivalent to Georgia Tech. Please let it go.

Yep. Tulane’s biggest mistake was leaving the SEC.

I went to the Tulane - UCF game a couple of weeks ago, and I must have heard that a dozen times, “We never should have left the SEC.”

Because it’s better for LSU to not actually have a rival in state. Playing and treating them like a real team would do nothing but help Tulane and hurt LSU recruiting.

What makes Tulane LSU’s natural rival?

Tulane hasn’t been relevant for sixty years.

They were the first team we ever played and the only other historic D1 school in the state?

Was anything stupider or more short-sighted than the idea that they were going to de-emphasize sports to “focus on academics”? You could argue their academics actually got worse when they did that. Are schools like Vandy and Duke (or Stanford and Northwestern to expand even further) considered less serious academic schools because they still compete in sports in major conferences? How much more relevant a school ALL AROUND might Tulane be considered had it stayed in the SEC? Such a terrible decision.

Tulane is having their first good season since 1998 and this board has become obsessed with them. Everyone can do it once. Call me when they string together 4-5 good seasons in a row. They’ll be back to irrelevancy in a year

That is how it was when I was growing up. But Tulane is not the same program anymore. They should have never left the SEC.

Does anyone know why they left the SEC? They were one of the originals, along with Georgia Tech.
