So your solution is to keep a guy clearly in over his head as head football coach and keep an athletic director who does nothing but piss people off and whose greatest coaches can be claimed as others' hires?

You're always a bad poster, but this may be one of your worst posts yet.

Same fans will be bitching about the basketball team if they fall short of an SEC championship and final four appearance next season.

Some people support the teams through thick and thin. Some people hop on the bandwagon when it’s hot, and are the first to ridicule players and coaches if they come up short on their sometimes unfair lofty expectations

That's all fans with expectations.

People will still support the basketball team because they are bringing in the best talent and have a very competent HC.

And just because people gripe about the football coach, doesn't mean they don't support the team. At the end of the day we do want to see what's best for the team..

I don't really think LSU is a program full of people hopping on any bandwagon.. Pretty sure most of us have stuck by LSU athletics through it all..

If Will Wade underachieves, which for this fan base is anything short of a final 4 appearance, he will be skinned alive.

Our fans definitely suck.

I wouldn’t say they suck, but they’re not as passionate and loyal as some people pretend them to be. Lotta fairweather fans in our fan base.

We currently don't have that for football, thus the dissonance. Things may look bleak right now, but they can change quickly with some recalibration.

Yeah, like when y’all “recalibrated” during the Miles Era? Great.

Then why the frick did we fire Les and hire Ed? This move is costing LSU more money then if we would have let Les ride out his contract.

The enthusiasm and unity among the fanbase for basketball is palpable on here. This is what happens when there are concrete examples of a positive vision and direction for the future. It's what happens when there is an air of competence around a program.

and if he has a season that doesn't meet fan expectations they'll turn on him

Keeping things as they are has already cost LSU millions and millions. At some point, you have to stop throwing good money after bad.

Gotta disagree here. LSU is a very appealing job, but let's be real: everyone who was half paying attention saw how Alleva handled that coaching transition, and how much of a major misstep hiring O was. Alleva is/was our biggest deterrent, not the fans.

Oh look, it’s another excuse for Orgeron. “He failed because of the negative fans!”
