To be fair, he was playing injured.
And the dog ate his homework.
LSU’s defense ate up Oklahoma’s offense. He had little time to throw and no open receivers. His “injury” gave them a nice excuse, though.

Forgot about how their QB played, from about mid 3rd on he quit, a Heisman winner deciding to quit football midgame

I saved an article in the Oklahoman that Tramel wrote a day or three after the 2003 BCSNCG. It's somewhere at my work and I'll see if I can find it and quote it verbatim, and if so I will bump this later...
Please post this.

All I'll say is I hope it is worse than they can ever imagine.
Make all of their lives miserable.
Make them regret even thinking about going to the game.
Make their stay in Atlanta a living nightmare.
Your parents must be so proud...
I’ll put this one down to adolescent humor. Otherwise, I would be left contemplating what a sad, wretched, pathetic existence someone must be enduring that would push them to wish this sort of thing on someone they never met.
I hope your team plays well, nobody gets hurt and everyone enjoys a great football game.

I was at the National championship game against Ohio State. Championship game crowds aren’t populated with penniless hicks. It’s a pretty swanky and civil affair. None of this stuff happened.

He's lucky he didn't get raped.

I ALWAYS bring this point up to Sooners fans: why do we not hear the same kinds of stories out tOSU fans regarding 2007?
Because the ones I know who went had a blast minus the game.

My personal favorite:
quote:
“On the morning of the game, my future wife, Margaret, and I were walking on Bourbon Street after brunch. We stopped at a store front for some window shopping. Suddenly Margaret tugged on my left arm saying in a wimpy voice, ‘Look at what they are doing with that OU flag.’ I looked over and saw a college-aged kid swabbing the OU flag back and forth in a slimy Bourbon Street puddle. With a strong shot of adrenaline and obviously without thinking, I ran over, knocked him to the ground, while saving the OU flag. While hugging the flag, I looked up to discover I was surrounded by at least a dozen LSU college kids, staring at me in shocked amazement. Unwilling to surrender the flag, I got into a Jimbo Elrod stance. With both hands gripping the flag tightly, I jumped around one direction at a time yelling, ‘Who wants this flag?’ Thankfully nobody took me up on the offer. After what seemed like several minutes, one of them said, ‘You crazy old man, you can keep you flag’. They all walked away, but we followed them for a couple of blocks waving the flag and yelling, ‘Boomer Sooner.’ Finally the adrenaline disappeared. Breathing heavily, I had to sit down on a bench. A couple of the LSU guys came back saying, ‘Sir, can we take a picture of you with your flag?’ We took the flag to the hotel room and let it soak in the bathtub to get the Bourbon Street smell out. The flag still hangs in our garage, 16 years later.”

Maybe the sensitive little bitches will stay home and hug their teddy bears.

I was a sophomore at OU when we played you guys in the Sugar Bowl.
My roommate went to the game as did several of my other friends. None of them told me anything remotely close to what that article was saying.
I think the common denominator here is that most of these quotes are from people in their 60s.
WTF did they expect was going to happen on Bourbon Street or the French Quarter? Everyone is drunk having a good time. That’s kind of what you sign up for when you go there.
These stories sound just like an OU/Texas weekend in Dallas. When I went to the Red River shootout back in the day, the Friday night before the game OU/Texas fans were always in each other’s face. I saw my share of fights too. With that said, the crowd was people in their 20s. It wasn’t mid-50s retirees that just flew in on their private jet after a round at the country club.
The guy that wrote this article is the same guy Russell Westbrook said, “I don’t like you” in a post-game interview. Lmao. Tramel is always looking for some type of publicity.

So the Oklahoman is trying to discourage the OU fan base from showing up? Cool...

He’s a clown.
But I will say this: you wouldn’t believe the absurd stories I still hear to this day.

And fwiw, I was in Nola and at that game. OU fans were boring, humorless and entitled . My impression was that they were outraged that we were having fun
I was at the game as well; this is a perfect description .
There were some LSU fan bad actors for sure, which I stood up for a couple OKLAHOMA fans and got the drunk LSU fan kicked out of the game , so we are not all bad. We all have bad fans.

Of a young girl, eight to 10 years old dressed in a Sooner cheerleader outfit, being called a “whore” by a grown LSU fan.
I saw a 30 something year old male OU fan wearing a red OU jersey push a little old lady dressed in LSU purple and gold to the ground and yell at her

So Oklahomans are pussies. Got it.
