One Team One Podcast tweeted O'Sullivan is the hot name. He seems to have some sort of connections so I wonder if this is Woodward's first choice.

He can recruit and won a championship. Also should improve pitching.

O’Sullivan wouldn’t be a bad hire by any means. It’s hard to tell how much of his success has been due to his geographic location. I also never really cared for his personality.
McDonnell on the other hand is someone that would bring the right personality and you know he can win on just his ability to build a program.

I think it would be a great hire even if it wasn’t my first choice, but if he were to have the exact same success at LSU as he has at Florida a vocal portion of the fan base would be calling for him to be fired.

If you go back and look at some of the teams he had you would see how much he’s underperformed there. They had some absolutely stacked teams that choked.
This year Florida was supposed to be a Top 3 team most believed.

This would be a Woodward move. Throw a boat load of money at someone who’s been at the top of the mountain.

In Woodward’s mind it’s safer to just throw a bunch of money at a proven guy than take a chance on an up and comer. For an AD that’s a pretty safe play in my opinion. Not going to get a lot of pushback for hiring a proven name even if he fails. If an unproven up and comer fails everyone will look at the AD.

Their 2019 team looks a lot like LSU's team this year. They finished 34-26, 13-17 in the SEC and got put as a 3 seed in the Texas Tech regional. Hopefully LSU's ending is different as they were knocked out by Dallas Baptist.

Who has a better resume?
It’s not about CPM winning 1 title. It’s about the consistency of getting to the CWS, and O’Sullivan does that
He went to the CWS 7 of his 11 years at Florida

Why fire Mainieri if this is your guy? How many stud pitching staffs this guy has had that can’t hit? Not defending Mainieri, just a bad move if this is the direction.
