Other than our bad running game the concern on Offense is we seem to have no deep routes

Everything is short and designed to have a guy make a play in space.

I’m all for Tyreek type players but a healthier balance of Height on the field is necessary for Nuss to have larger targets downfield as an option.
Nic Anderson should be out there more with the others being Brown, Thomas and A Anderson.
I’m good with leaving Hilton on the bench, he just doesn’t have the Dog that you need out there to contest for balls.

Just think if we had someone with more range they might have been able to come up with that duck.

Tech played to keep everything in front of them. This should have opened up the running game and then opened field. When you cant run worth a shite they had no reason to change what they were doing.

b/c we don't have a good enough OL to sustain blocks long enough for those routes to develop...

we really don't need to run deep routes all that often... i think crossing routes and mesh patterns would serve this offense best, as it does two things: gets the ball out quicker than a deep route, so our OL doesn't have to sustain pass blocking for an extended amount of time, and it utilizes our WR's speed best, b/c you if you hit them in stride, they are already at or close to full speed with the ball in the their hands, allowing for more YAC...

Based on our receivers and the arm strength we have seen from Nuss,
i was expecting several deep throuws per game to Brown and Hilton.
This would do wonders in stretching the field. Was very surprised when Brown was woefully underthrown on the play in the openning drive when he blew past the defense. Would have been far lessurprized if he had been overthrown than underthrown.

he's had time enough to throw to a receiver, but considering we are seeing 2 receivers in the same vicinity sometimes, it leads me to believe some of the routes weren't fully developed or run by the time he threw the ball...

of course, we seem to have some low football IQ receivers (not knowing where to line up, presnap penalties, etc.) so it's possible they may be running the wrong routes, ending up too close to each other, but i just seems that some of our plays, the routes are either too intricate and take a long time to run, or they are too long down the field for him to have time to get the ball down there... dunno

Nuss is supposed to have a big arm, but he seems to underthrow deep throws way too often. Seems like his long balls just give out of gas.

Because they were running a 2 high look the whole game.

When we can establish a run game, and be more consistent in the short and intermediate routes, those safeties will move up and provide more opportunities for deep plays.

Nuss is pretty bad about seeing what’s directly in front of him.

Examples being the inability to move up in the pocket instead of back 5-7 yards on an eventual rollout.
I will admit his accuracy is at its best on rollouts it seems.
The second being the inability to see the wide open green area of field in front of him when the opportunity arises. It’s a guarantee of yards and usually a first down, rather than a non guaranteed throw and opportunity for the Defense to make a play.

Nuss should be a better all around QB at this point but just hasn’t turned the corner yet.

Hopefully we get there with him.

We run a lot of 3 man routes which makes it difficult to be effective down the field because you aren't forcing the safety to make a decision

dunno man.. it's year 5, so i think he is what he is, at this point... i was hoping he could be broke of some of the bad habits he has, but he's still got them in his game, so dunno...

That is bullshite, look at the PFF grades on pass blocking. Garrett wants sacked himself. He had happy feet all night long. There was more than one occasion when he could have ran and got first downs. No the trouble was Garrett was way off and making bad decisions

no need, i watched the game... i know what I saw...

yes he did... he needs to do better too...

also agree 1000%.... but two things can be true at the same time... and in this case, it was... both Nuss and the OL didn't play their best game, and both need to improve vastly if we want to make it to the playoffs, b/c the schedule doesn't get any easier

Barion should have 2 TDs on go routes. 1 taken away by officials, the other taken away by Nuss throwing the worst ball of his life.

Throwing a fade down the sideline doesn't take time to develop.

I wish they'd throw deep ball early in the games to back the safeties up. even low probability passes out of bounds. just to keep that in the dbs mind.

La tech played too close to the LOS for us to not take shots all night.
