FTR, there is no one in the history of LSU football that was booed and despised more than Jarrett Lee in '08.

I don't ever recall JaMarcus being "hated".

And a couple you omitted in your hyper-racist world: Mauck and Perrilloux. You want to weigh in on them?

Matt Flynn was overrated as a QB. He had a tremendous supporting cast who bailed him out

FTR, fans appreciated Flynn because he stood in line literally for years to play. He played hurt most of '07 and missed two games. When Ryan wasn't suspended, no big deal.

Finally, his tremendous supporting cast included a piecemeal right side of the OL (Hitt and Carnell), new WR corps (only Early back and he missed several games), LaFell had the drops most of the year, new OC, OL, and WR coaches.

And FTR, we never scored less than 27 pts in regulation with him as starter. Not many QBs can say that.

I was positive on:

JaMarcus, Flynn, Mett, and Burrow

Neutral (not ideal but at least serviceable) on:

Jefferson, Daniels, Etling

Negative on:

Finley, Jennings, Harris, Lee, and Brennan

Lee was fine against mediocre defenses but played scared against Alabama.

Etling wasn't very good but was clearly our best option.

Daniels will be our best option like 75% of the time next year but has a lower ceiling and will limit us in 3-4 games. I don't have much hope the stars will align and he'll breakthrough and have us competing for a CFP berth. Also, if he gets dinged as is afraid to run, we're toast against any defense with a pulse.

A handful of posters on tRant being critical is not being "hated." That someone thinks that's representative of the fanbase is poor judgment. JaMarcus was well-liked period. Certainly wasn't "hated."

Watch this, there are posters who think of Lee strictly in terms of his Bama games (and mostly '11). But no one thinks of JaMarcus in terms of his games vs UF.

The Rant wanted Flynn over Jamarcus nonstop

I never heard of the Rant back in 2006, but that's frightening if true. Jamarcus was a stud and a fantastic college QB

Outside of Burrow one of the most beloved LSU QBs was Rohan Davey so stop making this a race thing. Herb Tyler was also a fan favorite.

Yeah, we all really hated Russell when he was setting records in 2006.

You also left Herb Tyler and Rohan Davey, two of the most beloved Tiger starting QBs of the last 30 years, off your list. Convenient since they didn’t fit your bullshite narrative. Also ironic since most of us wanted Davey to start over Josh Booty as soon as he was healthy again in 2000.

I still can't forget the "winning" TD pass he threw to beat Auburn (the game that got Miles fired.)
As soon as Dumbo (Miles) put Etling in to replace Harris, the Offense started to click.

Dumbo (Miles) let the clock run down too far and Etling's last second TD pass didn't count because the clock ran out.

That loss served its purpose though; got Dumbo fired.

Out with Dumbo and in with Shrimpy.

Out of the pot and into the frying pan...........

That’s just not true. Jamarcus was, and Daniels is, well liked. There are a few knuckleheads who don’t like Daniels because of his hesitation to throw the ball, but most appreciate him.

Flynn and Burrow were outstanding QBs, and Mett was clearly a step up from anyone else from that era, so naturally they were well liked. Lee was despised by many, although many more would have like to have seen him tried in the second half of that natty game. Etling was disparaged in spite of being quite good. And Brennan was probably liked by half the board, with the others thinking he was too immobile.

Agree. Must be consistent. The low extremes are a killer. Got to stop the Jekyl and Hyde patterns.

Have to be Mett. He was the only guy other than burrow that could consistently spread the ball around and move us up and down the field on offense. Scary part both were transfers. Tells you all you need to know about LSU for the last few decades at QB. Flynn would be second for me Russell was to up and down like many we have had for the last 20 years.

JaMarcus wasn't hated until he failed in the MDL with the purple drink and wearing the diamond elephant for his label Bama Boyz.

Lee wasn't hated but he also wasn't well liked for most of his tenure. He became a sympathetic figure when Miles refused to play him against Alabama.

Really it is
- Burrow
- Mett
- Flynn
- Mauck
- Davey
- Tyler

Ummm, they didn’t even like him much in 2018. Hell, some didn’t even like him going into 2019. The term “rantard” exists for a reason.
