Orgeron's Nepotism...This kind of stuff always backfires

While watching a replay of the LSU-McNeese game, I was surprised to learn that Coach Orgeron has placed two of his sons on the athletic department payroll as analysts, and has said he will give a job to this third son Cody as soon as he's finished playing at McNeese. Although Louisiana has some pretty clear laws prohibiting this kind of nepotism by state employees, state university head football coaches must be exempted. Les Miles also considered the LSU athletic department his personal feifdom by handing the Offensive Coordinator job to Cam Cameron, Miles' best man at his wedding who had been fired in mid-season by the Baltimore Ravens, and also giving football shcholarship offers to his own son and the son of his strength coach. This kind of stuff always backfires. Just ask Bobby Petrino.

Its a slap in the face and is in direct conflict with one of the binders core values... "We gon hire da bes cowdnatas in da country"

It’s a virtual impossibility that all three of his sons are the best possible candidates for the roles they do… unless of course that role is simply putting family on payroll.

I disagree with the practice as well, so can we stop having daily threads about it?

These are probably low level positions grinding tape. Not the best look, but I doubt it really effects things that much.

I don’t think Cody is going to have a spot on the LSU staff when he finishes school

This topic shouldn't be swept under the rug.. That's exactly what they want to happen.
The only solace I find is that all the orgeron's will be unemployed come November 28th (hopefully sooner).

Exactly....the fact this is being given so much attention is so minor in the grand scheme of things going on with the program.

of all of he reasons I would like to see O canned, this is the most benign, this has gone on in the coaching world forever and O didn't originate it, every coach that has a brother, son, son-in-law, brother-in-law, dad, etc., in coaching or interested in coaching does this

Not sure what an "analyst" does but im sure there are qualified experienced people who would love to work at LSU. But maybe his 3 sons are the best out there! LOL

Most coaches do it because they love their kids. But I’ll bet they all work elsewhere next year.

Are you just figuring out how coaching hires and coaching trees work? Most coaches hire people they are comfortable with and have a history with.

and the coaching profession is one of the most incestuous, nepotistic rackets out there

I know Everyone wants to be mad at everything but almost every HC does this if their kid is into it.
Or they gave a friend give their kid a job.
Belichick does it.
Andy Reid does it.
If his kids are making an insane salary that’s one thing, but I think Parker was an intern

But this actually happens all over football. The university has to sign off on it.

Bad example. Cam Cameron was awful here, but on paper, he was perfectly qualified for the job.

Jesus Christ. His younger son is an unpaid student intern. His older son started out as an unpaid student intern under Miles and has worked there ever since.
