Their roster is so stacked with high dollar talent that not a lot of freshman are getting to play.

Notice how many freshman played in that BCS game last year. Tua and several others came in early and went through spring practice. They are almost redshirting without actually redshirting. They know the system pretty well by the time the season starts.

If anything, it forces the upper classmen to play harder as they know they won't hold the job just because of tenure.

We get top tier skill position talent. We fell off badly on the line of scrimmage and linebacker. Awful QB recruiting. Defensive line and QB are the most important position groups.

1. Can't miss on the DL prospects. Clemson has been very good in this aspect or lucky.

2. Start working the recruiting system better. You have to over sign and purge certain players to build quality depth along the trenches (bama)

This is it, we are ok at the skilled positions, need to improve QB over the last 8 years or so and get better in the trenches. DL is probably where Bama and Clemson have gotten way better than us.

Buy players and slip them "supplements." A.K.A. become Bama.

Having a Senior QB coming back will help hopefully keep guys. I would go to the NFL too if I had no chance of competing for the SEC or national championship because of not being able to field a quality QB year in and year out.

If LSU want's to be in Elite Status, they need to be able to win shootouts.

It seems every year one of the playoff teams has to be able to win when their defense is getting out played or out schemed.

Well let's just say Bama always manages to "dodge" this issue.

An NFL rookie contract pays a lot more than the price of a Dodge Charger or Challenger, especially if you are a 1st or 2nd round pick.

I would say it comes mostly down to execution. Our guys just are too inconsistent/sloppy in comparison and have been for the past 6 years. Attrition/mis-evaluations and recruiting holes at critical positions is also a large contributing factor.

O has showed the ability to make things happen (getting burrow, kicker, recruiting) but hasn't IMO shown that he can consistently get the players to play and execute at the highest of levels. For glass half full folks, there are some talented coaches on staff which could change the culture though Im personally not too optimistic.

What benefits are being provided by Alabama to keep top draftable players from leaving early?

They have depth across the board, which limits early playing time at a lot of positions. Those guys want that ring and season of glory, so they don't transfer for playing time elsewhere.
Without looking at their roster, I fully expect some "new" seniors next season to have a big impact, because they've been sitting and waiting their turn.

At LSU, the trend was to play early and leave early. Even the guys who didn't perform "had" to leave, like they were going to turn into pumpkins or something.
