re: One of the elite Defensive Schools, and we can't get an elite DC?!? Could this be why?

Coach O did not bring in Arranda, Miles did. And it’s known Arranda and O did not get along thus he left for Baylor. And any elite coordinator knows O is one bad year away from being fired. There’s no job security here

Complete nonsense. Getting a position like DC at LSU ... if you are correct... would be a fast track to a head coaching position.

Anyway Orgeron is a very good head coach. Talent/recruiting is about 90% of the game at the highest levels of CFB

Have a nice day

Btw LSU has been weak talent wise and depth wise on the Dline and LB spots from 2013 to 2020... Miles let the line of scrimmage talent go way down.

The talent on the Dline has been rebuilt. LB and Oline remains to be seen.

Tell Joe Brady that no one wants to work for Orgeron. And no one gets lifted up or grows in their career.

OP, don’t let your hate blind you.

You assume that talented coaches from around the country are not calling LSU. You assume that LSU will not sign a talented DC. And I find it interesting that you compare Coach O to the absolute best coaches at multiple levels of this life time. FTR O coached teams have beaten Saban, and I am not investigating if one has beaten a Meyer team.

LSU is bigger than O. It is bigger than any asst coach. Any up and coming coach wanting to test his abilities against the best players with the best players will jump at the chance to be at LSU.

After typing all of that.....it just hit me that the explanation for your OP is much simpler than all of this......you are probably just an emotional woman. It’s ok, honey. It will be ok.

If so, who else in P5 football would hire Ed O?

There's no value in that (and arguably negative value to their brand).

Simply not true. We’re blessed to be the only big school in the most talent rich per capital state in the country. You come here, you will coach elite pro prospects. The Jimmy’s and Joes make your Xs and Os look better.

Did u even read the OP?!? I say exactly this. We have an embarrassment of riches talent wise in this state. LSU as a program has a great brand. I was talking about there being no value being associated with or working under Coach O. Unless you are a good ol boy like Ensminger or Pelini. Coach Os brand may be good to attract recruits but not good to attract elite coaches who will invariably be smarter than he is. If yall dont think that this is being considered by coaches I think u r being naive. Freeman didnt just chose to be “closer to home” he chose what he wants his brand to be.

So recruits are stupid and ignore Os dumbassery to come to LSU but coaches are smarter and know not to come here cause O is an idiot.
Got it.

You damn fools! Do I need to remind you that Eaux was Coach of the Year?? From wiki:

Associated Press Coach of the Year (2019)
Home Depot Coach of the Year (2019)
Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award (2019)
George Munger Award (2019)
Paul "Bear" Bryant Award (2019)
SEC Coach of the Year (2019)

I agree, OP. Elite coaches don't want to work for a guy who knows less football and can't teach them anything.

You know what? You're right. I'll go ahead and fire him this afternoon.

Just like every previous example, this coordinator search is a total sham.

LSU doesn’t need an Elite DC or a Hot name, just can’t afford another Bo. An avg DC would look like a god send compared to last year

If LSU would have fired O strictly for on the field reason after the 2020 season. I think Auburn would have called him and Tennessee as well hell USC may have fired Clay Helton and brought O back. No one is going to actively try and hire him while he is at LSU because they know he isn’t leaving. He is one year removed from a national championship someone would give him another shot.

It's more about the instability at the OC/DC level than it is specifically about O. O helped create it but it's not all on him.
If you know Ed, you know he's very convincing. Ed could sell water to a fish, it's not just him.
