One of the elite Defensive Schools, and we can't get an elite DC?!? Could this be why?

WTH is going on?!? I know this is going to bring a ton of downvotes but Imma say it anyway b/c I think this is an unsaid reason.
Up and coming or elite coordinators (especially those who have aspirations of ultimately becoming head coaches) don't want to work for Ed Orgeron. Period. He has nothing to offer them, teach them, help them grow. A head coach is supposed to elevate his coordinators. Not the other way around. Assistants are proud to come from the Parcells, Belichick, Saban, Meyer, coaching tree. No one is going to proudly say that they come from the Ed O coaching tree. There's no value in that (and arguably negative value to their brand). There is no other explanation why a program that has been as elite as we have defensively, have the gluttony of talent that we do, and we don't have DCs lining up to interview for the job. It's not the company or the job....it's who they are going to be reporting to.

It's just not true.
Ed o is an idiot but this just isn't true.
Nielsen was going to come here.
He did miss on freeman, odom, white from kentucky also told him no.
There is some truth to it but he can still get a good dc

The top two choices were both initially going to take the job. If it was about not wanting to work for Orgeron then why did they interview and consider it in the first place? Why don’t you let it play out and see who we end up with before assuming that no one wants to coach under him. There are many people who would love to coach at LSU because they would have good talent to work with. Who are these “elite” coordinators you’re talking about anyway?

Money talks. Most people on this board would put up a with a lot of crap for significantly more money. There’s a lot of good college assistant coaches making significantly less than LSU pays.

This is just fricking stupid. There was no value to Brady or Aranda last season winning a national championship?

You little dicks at it again...

Dave Aranda and Joe Brady might have something to say about that

Aranda is a head coach and Brady is an OC in the NFL. I think O did well for those guys.

Lulz, No he wasnt.
His agent can certainly read a contract. They were just spinning O for what they really wanted and ended up with the Saints
O went on the radio Tues morning to announce it. By noon Ryan was staying with the Saints. Do you really think that was done in a hour? His promotion had been in the works since before they lost on Sunday

Where did I miss the poop on Odom & White?

What?
Yes, i think he told sean payton he was taking the lsu job. That's been reported.
Payton then told him your contract says otherwise.
Payton then tells him ill bump your pay and give you more responsibilities.
This all happened and has been reported.
How do you get he wasn't coming. He could've gotten all that by telling them he was looking at any job.
The saints had a few key coaches leave. All payton did was give him dan Campbell 's extra responsibilities.

That radio appearance achieved exactly what he wanted it to, it got the fans blaming everyone under the sun except for Orgeron for what went down so mission accomplished.

And you think these guys if asked would say they learned their craft from Ed O? If so, why did we have to hire Peetz to “get back to the Brady offense” and did O throw shade at Aranda’s defense to get an “attacking 4-3”?
Nice try but Brady would credit Sean Payton and Aranda Gary Andersen as primary technical influencers on their career.
There is no O coaching tree except maybe Ryan Nielsen, who ironically passed on him to come be his DC.

If O is a part of any coaching tree, he is a branch of the Pete Carrol coaching tree. He isn’t his own tree by any stretch of the imagination.

When was the last elite defensive team we had . Not this season not the 2019 2020 team . The Joe Burrows team just out scored each team . Look at this season . Miss State tell where is the elite talent ?? Again where is that elite talent ????
