I was there with my 11 year old son. I don’t remember it being cold but I do remember zero first downs for Bama in the first half. We sat next to a Bama fan and his son. He was polite until we fumbled. Then he turned to me and said now we’re gonna kick your arse. Didn’t turn out well for him but typical attitude of Bama fans. Great memory with the LSU band and fans taking over the stadium post game.

I was at that game as I drove all the way from Racine, Wisconsin. As I recall, Alabama didn't get a first down in the first half. I didn't think my wife and I were going to get out of Birmingham.................It was a very enjoyable ride home.............

That game at Legion Field in Birmingham was my LAST CHANCE to beat hated Alabama as a GBFTL member (Bass Drum) and we did it. (The FULL BAND was in attendance; we didn't do the smaller GBFTL "Pep Band" back then)

I had a rivalry growing up with my Uncle (Who was a big Bama supporter from Tuscaloosa) and I hated Alabama football.

The 20-10 win is in my Top 5 all time "In Attendance" LSU victories.

That was the game that put the Bear in retirement.

I was a LSU student at the time. That was when only a handful of games were televised. I watched that game with about 40,000 people on closed circuit television at the Superdome. It was like being in the stadium.

At that time, I knew a guy whose mom grew up with Bear Bryant and was still really close to him. Apparently they remained close friends and talked on the phone regularly.

We knew Bear was going to retire before it was announced because he had told my friends mom when he decided it was time.

My friend told us that Bear told his mom something like “football is all I have ever known and wanted to do, I don’t know if I can survive without it….I’ll probably be dead in a few weeks.”

It was bizarre when they announced Bear had died 6 weeks later.

Ink was still wet on the bumper stickers that said "I was there when we beat the Bear. LSU 20 - BAMA 10"

Legion Field was rocking.

I just want to be alive to witness us beat Alabama like 45-10 one time. Just once is all I ask. Even in the games where we have completely kicked their arse like 1982 and 2001 the scores were somewhat close on paper.

Frick 45-10…… I want to be alive to see LSU win 11 straight vs Bama

Did you hear Bear Bryant was arrested for beating his wife. He asked her what time it was and she said it's 20 to 10.
