He’s a 5 at best with our lack of creativity hitting but all of our pitching is so unqualified that I don’t think there’s any solution.

When it’s his full roster and guys I’ll give a more critical take

I’d prefer to rate him at the end of the season. He needs to make sure this team doesn’t implode from within.

8. That excludes pitching decisions.

He just doesn’t have the pitchers. I’d say an 8.

Whose fault is that? He’s been here two full seasons. We have some talented arms. It’s on the coaches to put them in the correct spots and use them properly.

If he just leaves the lineup alone and doesn’t pull Money we win.

Dude
You’re a fricking idiot. I’m as hard on coaches as anyone. Starting a shitty thread to stir shite is dumb. Every single coach has plenty of flaws. It took Dusty Baker a shite load of years to win one. Dusty is a very good coach. Very good.
The pitchers are unpredictable partly because they are remaking some of them to be better and it has taken time. That with the coinciding strike zone change is a perfect storm.

We will see how they do down the stretch. Until the season is over, we won’t know how good he really is.

This team can still be great but it sucks to see so much stuff from last year still not corrected despite the infusion of talent. Little stuff last year like bad outfield positioning and mental mistakes are still a problem. Bad base running and no defensive improvement. It's all been overshadowed by the horrible pitching staff.

5/10. He has been really bad since the SC series. I will say people saying it’s because of the bullpen and pitching he is making bad decisions. Well he has had 2 full years to get the bullpen fixed and it’s worse than last year. This debacle of a collapse is on him and the pitching coach. It’s their job to get it fixed and it’s getting worse week by week.

Curious how I never see any explanation or list of reasons in these threads

Thompson has been better defensively, and the catching has been better defensively, and 3rd base….somehow

5, Assembled a great offensive team. But other than Skene's and maybe Floyd. The pitching sucks as does the BP. If LSU had a decent BP they would be hard to beat. But this is not the case. CJJ has issues.

I still think Jay is a great coach. Lets not forget how great he did last year managing a weak pitching staff. Definitely made some bad calls today but overall I think he is as dumfounded as all of us with the pitching staff.
