I hate that park. It’s where balls go to die

Rosenblatt was the GOAT

Which teams left are not as HR dependent?

So what you are saying is that most of those 9 HRs Wake hit against Bama that barely cleared the hedges around the fence will just be loud outs in Omaha?

This.

They should honestly figure out a way to change the direction of the field. It sucks. Omaha is so much more fun with a few dingers. The HR rate falls off a cliff for most teams when they go there and it's not due to field dimensions. Part is due to better pitching, the teams that make it are usually dealing, but mostly the direction of the park. Normal homeruns stall in the air and are grabbed at the track.

They wouldn't even be loud. Not even the warning track.

If they truly were just barely going over the wall, I didn't pay attention to that game.

It "plays" bigger than the Box!

“Small ball” was definitely king. I think it has loosened up some. Here’s hoping for some good wide open play.

Wondering if WF has ability to play small ball? Seems that we don't but should if one wants to win the Big Prize. I don't know the game and athletic dynamics well, but it would seem that bunting a ball as opposed to a full-on swing would be a lot more likely to make contact? No?

Humidity feels “heavier” but it would actually help in this situation, since more humid air is less dense. The wind is obviously a big factor though.

It seems like the wind blows straight down in the outfield.

I remember when they first switched to the new park and then changed the bats and probably the balls too. There was one year when there were maybe or 1 or 2 home runs the whole tournament. “Small ball” was definitely king. I think it has loosened up some. Here’s hoping for some good wide open play.
Yep. That was when UCLA won it all with like a .230 team BA and great pitching.

proximity to the Missouri River it keeps the air heavy which causes less carry on the ball

Is it closer than the Mississippi is to Alex Box? Does the Missouri River do something different to the air than the Mississippi? Serious question because I have no idea the difference

They must be using different balls this year. I doubt the bats have changed, but that's the only way to really explain the massive jump in power numbers and scoring this year. I don't think the MLB shortening the draft to 20 rounds can account to the more that 50% bump in HRs compared to 2021.

Hopefully the juiced balls help make the park feel smaller.

The Box is about twice as far from the river as Schwab is from the Missouri. I don't know exactly, but it's probably less than three football fields away.

Charles Schwab Park is built for small ball.

That’s why we haven’t won one over there but won six at Rosenblatt.

A north breeze completely stymies the long ball.

Pray for warm weather. The warmer it is, the less likely we'll have a north breeze blowing in.

An interesting motivator all these year would've been to build New Alex Box dimensions the same as Rosenblatt.
Prepare year round for that ball park bt setting that tone from the jump.

Stevenson hit 2 balls so freaking hard that game. I remember their pitchers were throwing batting practice pitches hoping our guys would try to hit hr’s.
