He’s suggesting that in 100 years having 2+ decades of good but not great basketball is outstanding. Gotta love the drive by basketball fans.

Apparently we’re not Alabama, Arkansas, Florida or Tennessee either. What’s your expectation and comparison for us, Vanderbilt? (Who btw also has a better alltime SEC win% than us.)

We can be those teams. What do you want us to do? We had wade. He fricked up. He’s gone. That’s not debatable. The cheating, the investigation, the refusal to meet with lsu. All that is wade. He’s not walking through that door. We shot our shot with mm. He was a good candidate when we hired him to try to patch up the hole wade left but he’s not working out. We’re spending money on basketball. It’s not like we went out and pad $50k for SUNO’s coach or something.

Once you get it through your thick skull that wade paved his one path out of town, you’ll realize that we’re actually trying, the ad is willing to spend money, and we’ll move on from mm if it doesn’t work out.

BUT, what he did do is pay (or order to be paid) players from a private checking account.

Also never verified or proven. 100% accusation with no hard evidence ever presented.

Not even going to get into your continued false statements about the previous coach but you’re also wrong about McMahon and that we had no choice but to hire him. There were plenty of other guys who were better and more promising out there and that speaks to the overall issue which of course you want to ignore and excuse.

Who, I’m open to discussion. I think everyone is in agreement that he’s not working out. But don’t come in here saying that he was a shite hire at the time. Especially with the conditions the program was left in by he whom will not be named. I guess you wanted us to go get coach k or maybe Phil.

Pretty obvious. Ky has bought more players than LSU has winning seasons.
Shortly after Dale Brown accepted the Head Basketball Coach at LSU there was a 6'10" All American HS Basketball player in Louisiana. According to a story in "The Advocate" his parent visited LSU and told them it would cost 10 K, and transportation for his parents to all the away games, to get him to BR. According to the writer, LSU did not have the fans to pay that much money. The player signed and attended a university in the Mid West. At the end of the freshman year, that team was in the final 4. The TV announcer made the comment, RR's parents had attended every game that season except one. Hint: When the player finished his career he owned a Race Horse.

Unless LSU captures lightning in a bottle with a really, really GREAT coach they are not going to compete in men's BBall in the NIL era.

LSU is spending around 18k per athlete in basketball.

Duke is spending like 300k on average. Something like that per last report.

Chris Beard isn’t a nice person and doesn’t have a great nice family.

You like to make stuff up but since you’re a Jonny come lately to basketball you missed all the discussion of mid major guys we discussed hiring at the time and who are now doing well for the schools who did hire them.

That’s not true.

This message board, and the compendium of whining threads about Wade’s termination, prove plenty people do indeed care.

Fat Scott and half our fan base would rather be irrelevant basement dwellers than have a winning coach

Pooch it's not that he was a shite hire. He's probably a good coach at some degree. But just by one press conference you can tell he wasn't going to get it done here. LSU basketball needs a builder and a guy with charisma. Compare him to Brady/Wade/Brown and then Trent/Johnny who does he seem more like?

I'm not sure how Scott sat in an interview with him (Which I don't think he even did) and thought yea this guy will have it all turned around. Did we even interview other coaches? Chris Jans? Jerome tang? They were both hot names as well. You never heard anything just yea Matt McMahon chose us over south Carolina and that was it.

Please list the things I “made up”. Note: not the things you choose to not believe, actually made up things you’re saying I posted.

That’s what I’m getting at, McMahon was hired via recommendation. There was no vetting process and no plan to move forward because no basketball people were involved. Now we could say it was a bridge hire to get past the “looming shroud” but you don’t sign a bridge hire for 7-8 years. It’s total negligence and carelessness when you consider that basketball is your #2 moneymaker.

You continue to deflect. I never suggested the hyperbolic names you claim I did and the scenario you proposed between the WW firing and McMahon hire didn’t happen. Like me and pnels said many mid major coaches were discussed here by people who follow basketball closely which you obviously do not.

That’s hindsight 20/20 and anecdotal at best. But you just knew it after watching one press conference. You’re that good of an evaluator of people that you don’t even need to interview them. Yet somehow Woodward makes all these other hires that are paying off and he lucked out each time.

So in the 4 major sports,
Football: luck
Wbb: luck
Baseball: luck

But MBB: fat Scott sucks, spends other people’s money, true colors shining through, trash ad, and on and on.
