In what team sport would any high level team not take a huge hit if they lost their best player? If Kobe got hurt, the Lakers would've taken a huge step back. If Joe Burrow got hurt, we don't win in 2019. If Argentina loses Messi, they probably have a big drop off (idk, I'm not a soccer fan but he's a huge name).
Except for maybe the 1927 Yankees, losing your best player off a contending team is always going to make the team have a huge drop off.
ESPECIALLY QB, other than maybe a starting pitcher (who only plays in 20% of the games) there isn't a single position at any sport that is more important to a team.
