The players receiving the money that’s being donated are living better than the person donating the money.
The players where most were passed just to get through high-school and are hand fed answers in college classes, that were born as a gifted athletes and in many cases, not a gifted brain, are being paid millions for POTENTIAL....while the people that in many cases have busted their arse through college or school of hard knocks and still busting their asses in careers (not talking about younger entitled generation),are paying them to wear expensive jewelry and fancy cars....no thanks. I'll donate my money to actual people of need.
I have no problem with them working hard and proving themselves in college, and being rewarded with big paydays...and if they aren't good enough for the NFL, at least they get a degree and special treatment and opportunites most don't get. Sadly, they put all their eggs into the NFL payday, and if that doesn't work out, usually most won't work out elsewhere. It makes me sick hearing Underwoods's dad say he wanted enough money so that he didn't have to work anymore. What a pos.

Have been in but planning on swapping my annual TAF Donation to Bayou Collective donation.

well, do you want LSU to be competitive or not?
Or you could just put more money in your child’s 529 account… or buy something nice for your wife… or get a new hobby outdoors that doesn’t require you to donate to college adults that you rely on for happiness and fulfillment.
This isn’t about bleeding purple and gold.

I'm sure your kids will appreciate you supporting these overpaid athletes instead of them or your grandkids...and yes, you will come back and say you do both because you make so much money...blah blah blah. Rich people get rich by NOT doing that. The very wealthy it doesn't matter.

Chicken, you should make this a paysite & give the proceeds to NIL

college athletes, not adults, who are all way overpaid, and couldn't care less about a college education.

THIS!
People giving their money away for kids that aren't their own to play a sport is asinine.

Why should I want to pay college kids to play ball? They should just start a minor league for football.
Young person wants to go pro "football" you have a few options.
Get paid to play if you're good enough in the minors or go straight to the NFL.
or
Take a look at your future based on your current surroundings.
&
Maybe Be grateful a University takes a chance on you offering a scholarship that is actually worth real money & can change your life.
Let the young person decide what road is best form them.
The Universities & NCAA made the mess & zillions of $'s forever let them figure it out. I "couldn't" care less what they do. They can continue to get my support from my viewership, sacrifice of my time & my $ on shirt's, caps & whatnot. This approach seemed to work just fine in the past, just like opportunity & scholarships did for the colligate athlete.
Y'all want to pay a "college athlete" to play ball that can't articulate a sentence in an interview go ahead. Over the years the melts have been epic. I can't imagine how glorious the entertainment will be once those of you commit to funding this crap & the product is actually worse. Y'all should think this through.
PSA: Broke young kids don't listen, imagine that same young kid with F-you money! They will quit when things don't go their way faster than a cat can lick it's arse.
Carry on

I agree, for once, with you. Make it enough where the trash will be gone. On the bright side, you will be gone too.

Way more important things in life to donate my money to than LSU athletics. Good luck!

No thanks. Single dad here with two kids that are just a year or two away from college, so I'll be paying for that as well.
I also want to retire one day. I don't want to donate to the retirement plan of some kids parents, like Mr. Underwood.

You should not have any problem with players getting paid when you consider the billions of dollars in revenue generated by college sports.
Then the entities earning the billions in revenue should pay them. The fans aren’t earning that revenue. This is just another increased cost of attendance/being a fan now. As always, the costs always fall to the fans

We already pay for everything. This is some underhanded shite right here.
Posted on 12/6/24 at 7:23 am to Chicken
Wouldn't it be better to donate that money to charitable causes that fight world hunger, poverty and disease? You never know when some unknown kid out there might be some kind of athletic freak who could win LSU some championships in football, baseball or basketball. We need to find these kids by bringing a bag of rice to the huts in his neighborhood.

serious question but with the upcoming settlement, how will all of this work going forward? Seems like we may have a cap and NIL can't be just pay for play which could render collectives like this useless unless I'm mistaken.
You are correct. The settlement includes an enforcement mechanism against collectives specifically. All collective NIL deals will have to be approved through a third-party clearinghouse, which will evaluate the deals to make sure they serve a legitimate business purpose.
The settlement doesn’t really address individual big money donors but it’s absolutely intended to crack down on collectives.
Of course, one way to look at this is that now is the time to contribute while we still can.

because at this time, the schools cannot pay the players directly. It must come from 3rd parties.
The law was written to be a tax on fans and allow grifters to pay players and use them for advertising. Yet LSU continues to raise TAF fees, raise concessions and ticket costs, and rake in the money and spend it on stupid shite
