The tailgating will still be great. If the team wins all is good if not who cares about the tailgating. It is all about winning.

Those of us who love LSU sports (I have season tickets in 4 sports) should quit acting like any building at LSU is some kind of attack on the sports culture at LSU
This post right here. The fact that this has 59 down votes to 31 upvotes is hilarious. It’s everything that’s wrong with the situation.
Tailgating was awesome when it was a free for all. However it was a MASSIVE detriment to the university and its operations outside of 7 saturdays of the fall. The cost and effort to put campus back together is immense. Everything costs money.
I dont understand how people can’t grasp that. It’s the whole “you’re ruining my good time” mentality. But with most of you folks, you go home Saturday night and you don’t have to deal with the fallout of what remains of Saturday. LSU used to get prison labor to clean up. That was a huge benefit. Can’t do that anymore, not PC. So now you have to triple the cost by paying outside work crews to assist. God forbid LSU try and make revenue off the patrons that come destroy the campus every home game.
You have no idea how much gameday actually influences decisions made on campus. It’s literally one of the key factors that gets considered when making potential changes.
The university is bigger and more important than your fricking tailgate spot

Absolute BS too - our roads also show this
Screw the PC bleeding hearts

The administration isn’t banking money for parking at athletic events.
Most businesspeople wouldn’t complain about someone dropping 250K potential customers at your business 8 times a year. The opportunity is enhancing the experience and monetizing that. Instead, LSU’s approach degrades the experience and cuts the customer base in half.
Textbook case of shrinking your total addressable market instead of maximizing it.
It’s not bad business. It’s very intentional. LSU admin does not like a large a portion of the fanbase.

Between negative sky is always falling posters on TD and people acting like drunk entitled assholes at our football games, I don't like a large portion of our fanbase either

Tailgating isn't the same and i hate to sound like the old man yelling get off my lawn, but it sucks now. Everything is so corporatized it. and the in game atmosphere isn't the same even the big game. They sold out to turner MMR and the other companies around here to prioritize their experience at the expense of the lifelong fans and tailgaters

And without Athletics the whole operation would go belly up clown

I’m just glad the rent-a-tailgate spots didn’t get covered with construction equipment. Would be tragic to lose such a tradition.

ULL tanked the tailgating crowd with just 2 bullshite changes. Got rid of the "free" spots and moved the "free" spots to Narnia.
LSU did this over a decade ago

What’s LSU most known for?

Actually some in the AD believe reducing the number of tailgates will keep people in TS longer. Some have suggested shutting down tailgates at halftime and enforce open containers on campus at halftime as incentive to keep people in TS and reduce drunk driving.
That is some of the dumbest shite I've ever heard.

It’s been death by 1000 cuts for LSU tailgating; but it’s not completely dead yet, although still headed that way.
20+ years ago LSU started their “don’t park on the tree roots” campaign. Ok, most people were good with that since nobody wants to kill trees/ destroy landscaping. But that was the first step to regulating parking/tailgate areas.
Then Skip came along early 2000s and made most large lots reserved.
Then in 2011 most of the interior of campus was made pay to park. But, you could still pay in cash when you pulled up to the lot on game day.
Then, a couple years later they made it a requirement to buy a parking pass ahead of game day for all of interior campus. Many of these spots stay empty for games that aren’t top match ups.
Few years later, parking along Nicholson was shut down.
Now RV’s moved out and old front 9 is gone.
It’s easy to see how fans can get fed up over time.

Campus game day atmosphere getting destroyed bit by bit
1. Open campus back up to tailgating like it was for a hundred years.
2. Stop herding everyone into the Nicholson corridor
3. Watch the atmosphere return.

It’s very corporate. I don’t equate the building of a dorm to screwing things up though. In my 20 years of going to games, it’s changed so much. I can only imagine how the fans that have attended since the pre-2000’s feel.
RIP old Hart Lot. You can’t access inner campus. Parking is getting pricier. Bringing in a trailer costs money. Ticket prices have raised. Factor in travel, hotel (or RV lot).
Honestly, the saddest part of this thing is that it’s the norm for CFB. It’s just another way OUR game is changing.

They don’t care who they screw over as long as the bottom line is improved.

Last year my group went to the South Carolina game. Loved the town and had a great time, but the tailgating was so sad. Basically it was all in one field in front of the football field house. All spots were rental spots for tents, and ice chest, etc. I heard they paid $1,000 a game for that. Not true how true that is, but it was def a lame deal.

So you based where your family lives on tailgating, and blame the LSUadministration for the weather. Please tell me you an Ole Miss alum........

LSU is adding more parking lots at the old front nine.
