Think that place could be made basketball ready? Do some retro thing and play one game there like on a day that honors Pete or something?

I think it held like 6500 for basketball back in the day.

Might be a fun one time thing to try? Probably not doable for many reasons.

it would be pretty cool to have a throwback game there.

That's what I was thinking. Don't know if plausible.

I can remember going to a rodeo there, but that was over 20 years ago.

I'm sure it could. Didn't they film the ending to Glory Road in the Cow Palace?

I actually played on that old court floor a number of times. There was a dead spot that could cause you to lose your dribble if you didn't know where it was.

Yeah the Final Four scenes for Glory Road were filmed there. Especially with the portable court we have it's possible.

It would need a ton of work. That place is in pretty bad shape.

Ah the old Cow Palace. Saw many a basketball game there. Loved the sound the players made when they came down with a rebound on that hollow floor. Even a dribble sounded cool. Sam Chase, Elliot Cooper, Dick (The Kentucky Rifle) Maisly? Bobbie Fetter, Belcher with the left hand shots. And then greatest of all Pete and his Greatest Show On Earth!!

Dead spot...no spots. The other kicker was the skylights (glass windows around top). In mid afternoon the backboard "disappeared" when you went up for a jumper from the side.

I think it would be cool, but as mentioned above it would take alot of work and maybe more logistics and red tape than it's worth.

But it would create some buzz, and you can bet it would pack the place. Hoops even when it's winning still needs help getting interest going these days outside a Kentucky game or something similar.

I could see having one game a year there. It would be incredible.

Went to a DU banquet there recently. Dirt floors. Heat didn't work. No a/c.

Went there a few times, not a good idea. I think we should build an new assembly center. We could name it after Maravich, name the court after Petit, and the practice facility after O' Neal. Give em each a statue.

maybe lsu football can play one of the rent-a-win games next year in the grass next to the state capitol building to honor the 1906 team. can't be too hard to paint a field and set up a couple goal posts.
