I think we should build an new assembly center.

I'd love this... The arena is just outdated now, and no matter how they change it, it's still outdated.

maybe lsu football can play one of the rent-a-win games next year in the grass next to the state capitol building to honor the 1906 team. can't be too hard to paint a field and set up a couple goal posts.

Apples and waterelons, but there are as I said probably many good reasons why it could not be done. Just a random thought.

The interior is in horrible shape. I go every year to take my son to Ag Days, and attended a crawfish boil last spring. It's a barn. No way LSU would spend the money to even clean it up in decent shape for a game.

I got my driver's license on March 21, 1966 in my freshman year. From 1966-67 on I attended every home LSU basketball game, my sophomnore year in high school through getting my MA at LSU in May of 1974. Playing BB at the Ag Center was HORRIBLE. We were ecstatic to go into the Assembly Center which we got thanks to John McKeithen. IMO, tear that barn down!

If they were to do this would be awesome and could give the tickets to season tix holders for the sell out.

Best part about it would be the bitching about tue holders after market price for the game
"They wont sell to a real tiger fan who will go cheer! THEY ARE just worried about money and greedy!"

They would completely ignore for 5 years lsu has offered $100 season tickets and wecantgive our tickets away most games

Saw most of Pete's games there, saw Peter, Paul and Mary there and watched my sister graduate there. Fond memories of the Cow Palace.

All the games were in the PMAC when I was there. Went to the cow palace a couple times. Once for the vet school rodeo. Got in on the wild cow milking. Was crazy

It was a pretty historic place back in its day--it was made 6 feet larger than Madison Square Garden to make it the largest arena in the U.S., long before the Superdome ever held that title. Since the PMAC was built, the "Cow Palace" hasn't hosted any major non-ag event that I can think of (almost hosted a 2 Live Crew gig 20 years ago, until it got scrapped due to concerns that the band might attract a rowdy crowd to campus). I was hoping that the Louisiana Bayou Beast or Baton Rouge Blaze arena football teams or the Baton Rouge Kingfish hockey team might put it back into use, but that never happened. For the last 40 years, it has been content hosting various ag shows and rodeos. It seems to be under-utilized, given that it can hold up to 6,800 folks (used to cram in more than 9,000, with temporary seating, back when the Pistol was playing there).

Yeah, nothing says LSU basket ball more than the aroma of cow and horse manure for a game.

i've been to many games in the old ag center. the permanent seating there i believe is 6700 or so. For the basketball configuration there were lower seating in place similar to the way the PMAC is set up. i might be wrong here but i seem to remember that 10,000 would fit in there for basketball with all the seating in place.

I remember everyone showing up for the JV game starring Pete then most leaving before the Varsity game.
