Now do Oklahoma and LSU.
Who cares? We’re not talking about that.
We’re talking about why LSU plays so poorly against Bama compared how Oklahoma does and what can be done to fix it.

Our record against bama is 4-16 since 2008.
While I think it’s mostly in our heads, it’s clear that stuff like this also plays a part : The facts.
It’s a fact that Alabama is historically better than us.
It’s also a fact that when we play each other, we usually lose.
As much as we don’t want it to, I believe it creates a feeling of “quitting in advance”. (We normally lose this game, so why fight back if we’re losing”?)
I think the ultimate answer comes down to having a head coach who understands the importance of 2 things:
1. Believing in your team more than they believe in themselves
2. Understanding that when you’re up against someone better than you, you don’t play not to lose, because you usually will. You raise hell and throw everything you can at that opponent until the clock hits 0:00.

It’s not just “US”, it’s every team they play. Hopefully that changes with Deboer

You still don’t realize how stupid this is?
It’s not even a thing. Bama has a better record against every opponent in recent history
You found an outlier because they rarely play each other. OU is 1-1 against Bama in the last 10 years

Alabama has owned LSU since their inception.
Its just one of those things in sports.

That 3 loss Bama team from 2002 somehow crushed LSU 31-0 in Tiger Stadium. That actually proves my point. Thanks for the additional evidence.
They own us.
That 2002 team was nothing special and they beat the shite out of us.
Bama has always gotten up for this game.

So a useless comparison based on teams that never play each other? Got it, you're the perfect poster for that.

Don't ever use the word "tide" in this forum again.

LSU has lost to Bama before the games even start. We had zero business being routed at home this year.

This.
Consider also when LSU plays Bama every year. LSU always plays Bama after the bye week for both teams. Bama always has two weeks to prepare for LSU and recuperate. Granted, LSU has the same two weeks to prepare and recuperate, but it’s always a long two weeks mentally. The outcome of that game seems to set the tone for the rest of November. Until the schedule changes, I don’t see LSU having the kind of success against Bama that other teams seem to have.

Spot on w post. +1
What amazes me aside from 2022 OT win is how we under-perform at home against Alabama. Granted they were super talented in years past but still we had players to compete. Just didn’t happen.
This year was head scratching b/c Ala. is very beatable this year. Just needed to stop Milroe from running. OK figured it out. So did Vandy, USCe, and Tenner. I don’t get it.

We will never get the defense that took the field at Vandy, or the pick-six machine that played against OU.
This is the absolute truth. Although it should make me happy to see Alabama lose, a part of me is always pissed off that they played poorly against OU and Vandy. They NEVER fail to put it together for their game against LSU.
When was the last time Alabama beat themselves AGAINST LSU? 1993 (Pigs Fly)? Even auburn sometimes gets a crap performance from Alabama, but we never do

That’s the only time the two teams have played in the past 20 years. I wouldn’t really call that a trend. We’ll see how they do this Saturday.
Prior to this weekend, Bama had also only played OU twice in 20 years.
