Someone please explain to me how this is is not on the coaches and the game plan.
well ummmm the thing is ummmmm....I got nothing
the talent being wasted at WR is just ridiculous. Is it playcalling or is just a complete inability of JJ to get the ball to the playmakers do they don't bother calling the plays? Something needs to change

100% coaches fault
Just frustrating, and you're not the only one. I think Miles is mentally slow.

do you think it was oon the players?
Mostly no. The penalties and poor blocking I do. But the coaching setbacks make me think there was a lot left on the sidelines and not on the field where it should have been.

Why do we not play Shepard and why the hell is your brother not our #3? We run Chris Mitchell and RJ Jackson out there and there's no reason for it. Mitchell dropped 2 passes, and finally with 3 minutes left in the game they decide to put Rueben in.
does it even really matter? JJ can't get the ball to any of them anyway at this point

At least be a little bit more imaginative with the playcalling.
do something new, I could swear every play we ran saturday night, we've seen before, there was absolutely nothing new brought to the table.

I feel like the coaches arent sure if they want to run the spread or the Power I. and since they are unsure they have JJ in there who is kinda a drop back passer, kinda a dual threat, but not very good at either.
Lee cant run the plays like the options (which work GREAT as we all know) and some zone read options because he's too slow.
Shep cant run the plays like the drop backs and picking apart the D because he either doesnt have the arm or doesnt have the plays yet.
So we have a hybrid QB out there who looks confused because the coaches cant decide which offense to run.

"this can be a very special year and it would be a crime not to have it. "
I agree on this. We finally fixed our D and we have all the talent in the world...

thats the problem, they want to run 6 different offenses when they can't even run 1 offense to perfection.

It's comical. I literally laughed at my tv in the 2nd half. It was so unbelievable

LsuButt i hear what you are saying.
you will probably never see me say anything here about my brothers playing time. im not at every practice so i dont see what goes on.
i did see him beat his man almost every time, but so did some of the other receivers.

dmitch, I predicted LSU would win 27-6. Wow was I wrong. I usually have a bad feeling about those kinds of games, but I felt good about it. Our defense played well enough to win holding them to one touchdown and with slightly better tackling and eliminating the dumb penalties, we could have held them to 6 points easily.
The offensive ineptitude is beyond my comprehension and I think Gary Crowton is killing this team and has been all season.
Its easy to say that Miles should just take over the play calling, but you can only call the plays that have been installed and practiced. Its our offensive system that is currently designed to ensure mediocrity at best and futility at worse. No IDENTITY. MISUSING Our most talented kids. Asking Jefferson to do things he sucks at like running the option 15 times a game to the short side. for 1 yard a popl.

Exactly.
The inability of getting the ball OUT of JJ's hands is handcuffing this team. Happy Feet Jefferson can't make the play down the field for this offense to be successful.
It's time for Lee to start warming up. He had a rough freshman year, but the only way for that kid to go is up.

Can't throw a pass laying on your arse 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage. When something doesn't work, you make changes. If that happends to involve different personnel, than so be it.

Sad thing is that they are trusting JJ to do the things that don't work against great defenses - the option will only work for so many plays, then a quick, aggressive defense will load up and hammer you (look at LSU's performance against the vaunted GA Tech option last year).
Handing off to Scott, KW, or play-action short passing to the Tight End should not be a tough play, even for a young QB like JJ - we saw very little of Dickson, who was wide open a lot. The Oline did a decent job of run blocking considering the lack of vertical (deep) passing attempts.
Which brings me to my next question - why in the hell can't the coaches call some "jump ball" floaters down the sidelines to their 6'3" and 6'4" superstar receivers against smaller Dbacks. Two out of three chances of getting a completion or flag for interference vs. incompletion in a 1-on-1 situation. Seems like that's a great matchup for LSU. At 50+ years old, even I can still throw that pass 20+ yds down the sidelines.
If the trust is not there for JJ to do these 2-3 things well, then we need to look elsewhere quickly. Frankly, I'm not an advocate of bringing in Shep to take over at QB - I doubt he's any better at these plays than JJ - the coaches simply aren't calling them from the sidelines. We can win ballgames (even against tough opponents like FLA) with the addition of these simple plays.

its honestly the most predictable unimaginative offense I've seen on display since.....the previous saturday
if its a playcalling issue then crowton needs to wake the frick up and realize this shite isn't going to cut it
if its JJ hamstringing the offense he needs to sit the bench
I think a lot of it is JJ being scared though. I watched the guy in 2 scrimmages and he had no problem slinging it down field in that situation. I guess he just isn't confident yet to do it in a game situation

MTL - the biggest problem is not the o line its JJ holding the ball to long. The O line play hasn't been great but JJ is just not seeing the field well at all.

JL isnt afraid to sling it around, obviously. Assuming he has made at least some strides from his freshman year, I say throw him out there
