I know Wade was fired & their top transfer was ruled ineligible for the year. Other than that, why?

Because will wade cheated and got himself fired. We were on a good track but that idiot ran himself off. The patchwork hire of MM doesn't look like it's working but again, that's due to wade starting all of this...

They have no talent. McMahon is probably a really good coach but he is struggling to bring talent here. It’s upgraded from last year but not by much.

Last year's team was an absolute disaster last year, I am not sure they did one thing well.

This year's team does a few things well, creating turnovers on defense mainly.

But my God they are the worst defensive rebounding team in LSU history. Currently ranked 311 On defensive rebounding against a not very good OOC. And They Turn the ball over on 20% of their offensive possessions. That's laughably bad. Half the time they just throw it out of bounds or the guy catches the ball standing on the out of bounds line.

Lack of guard play, front court is skilled but lacks strength hence the struggle to rebound, three point game is extremely inconsistent, ball movement is minimal on most possessions, poor decision making leading to a lot of unforced turnovers, Mcmahon has put some really head scratching lineups on the floor and has not made the offensive adjustments, or defensive for that matter, needed when things start going poorly, all on top of the team playing with a seeming total lack of urgency and motivation which is a direct result of the coach. Think that just about covers it

It seems Matt McMahon is a good guy and decent coach, but it seems like he’s in WAAAYYYY over his head. Also, it don’t look like McMahon is “attacking” the things he needs to. Not killing recruiting, not promoting his brand and/or LSU, not going all over the state and selling LSU basketball. That passion seems to be missing. He’s just looks to be going thru the motions. That will get him fired if things don’t change REALLY soon.

Mcmahon was stuck with what he could get his first year. With the cloud of sanctions still hanging over the program he struggled to get high rated talent here this year so relied on the portal where it's hit and miss. This team does not have an SEC caliber PG. That is the main problem. Most of the guys on here probably never played a minute of competitive basketball in their lives. Once threat of sanctions was lifted he got commitments from #4 PG and #4 PF for 2024. I'll judge him when he's had a chance to bring in some talent. Most of the comments on here are guys pissed off that Wade got fired so they talk more emotionally and I say that as a Wade fan Loved him but he's gone. Move on.

We are vastly worse at this moment then we were last year at the same moment. Which is worrisome because last year we showed pretty much no improvement from Decemeber to the end of the year. So Matt now has to show he can become a good coach and actually have this team improve. Or its going to be worse than last year.

When he was hired many on here said he, unlike the prev coach, would be able to do more with less,(Last year he had a top 20 recruiting class and a top 10 transfer class). He has simply showed none of that so far. And honestly he really only has about 4 months to show it before he loses 99% of the fanbase that is left.

If McMonotone came in here and showed some fire and passion for the program, Wade wouldn’t constantly be brought up.

We went to the tourney 5 years in a row under Wade, results matter.

Some of the teams we have played have put the ball in the basket more than us. This is a fatal indicator in basketball. Throwing passes out of bounds, dribbling balls off of feet, trying for spectacular dunks when a layup would work just fine. These are a few of our favorite things.

Ah yes, the big black cloud argument. 1, this argument is fricking stupid. 2, none of this has anything to do with his glaring deficiencies as an in-game coach.

This.

LSU doesn't have the overall talent to truly compete at the top of the SEC. No one is going to argue otherwise. But they ABSOLUTELY have had enough talent to not consistently be the worst team in the SEC...which is the path McMahon has them on.

Last year LSU beat a top 10 Arkansas team to open SEC play. They then went on the road and battle Kentucky in a loss that could have gone either way. After that the wheels completely came off. McMahon, BY HIS OWN ADMISSION, said teams had adjusted to LSU and he had no answers on how to counter.

This year, with largely a new roster once again, LSU is trending in a worse position than they were at this time last season. All, while McMahon often stands stoically on the sideline seemingly clueless and helpless to make adjustments.

Again, no one is EXPECTING LSU to be a SEC champion right now. They aren't even expecting them to be an NCAAT team. But I don't think it is unreasonable to expect them to be better than the bottom of the league and a team that routinely struggles (now loses) against low end mid-major teams while getting routinely blown out by power-conf. opponents.

McMahon has yet to prove he can coach at this level. Until he does, there is nothing to suggest he is a "really good coach".
