find it funny that all you heard was get rid of the AD and now half the rants feel sorry for him. Hard to please anyone these days.

Many of us knew it was bound to happen. Just didnt think it would happen so quickly without having the university president in place.

If they can clean up the shitshow and make it look slighly better then we'll see. Just want people to allow others to do their jobs and not interfere or inject themselves where it hurts the program. We all care about LSU here. Just want the best overall.

SW indirectly helped Fisher get that contract extension. SW wanted to hire Fisher. Do you not remember? Fisher was his big whale...

Woodward got Jimbo to aggy, yes, so is somewhat responsible for the initial hire. But the contract extension and massive buyout were a product of aggy AD Ross Bjork.

Bjork fired head football coach Jimbo in November 2023 because the program was viewed as being "stuck in neutral.” The buyout was a product of a contract extension Bjork oversaw in 2021.

According to the contract, Jimbo was owed $19.2 million within 60 days and then $7.2 annually through 2031.
Interesting to note that there was no offset or mitigation on those payments.

Jimbo’s initial contract was a 10-year, $75 million fully guaranteed deal signed in December 2017. The reason the buyout was so large because he was given a four-year extension in August 2021 that raised his annual salary from $7.5 million to $9 million and pushed his contract through 2031.

I doubt Jeff Landry knows any of this.

Landry is a got damn retard that represents everything that is wrong with LA. I don't know who the hell he thinks he is, he just ran off a good AD imo that always brought in top coaching talent. He knows nothing about LSU sports or how that whole sports machine works for LSU, but he's sticking his nose in everything. They were laughing at him yesterday on the Pat McAfee show and espn calling him Billy Madison and he was too dumb to even realize it. Smh

Woodard did not give Fisher that contract, he could not have because he was at LSU when he got it.

Only in Louisiana can we make this a full blown circus in 3 days. Well, back to the Curley era of LSU football bc no coach will want to walk into this mess.

What a time to be a Tiger. While it may be a mess now, I remain hopeful and optimistic that the future of LSU athletics will be entrusted to the right individual as AD.

Woodward was fired because he fired Kelly without approval from the BOS.

I fricking hate Landry, and the firing had Landry’s blessing, but Scott did a huge no no

So Kelly didn’t work out, but the deal didn’t seem out of line at the time.
Woodward may not deserve so much derision…

And frick Landry, btw.

No, it absolutely did seem out of line Even then. Everyone knew that if it went bad, it was going to be an expensive, huge mistake. Woodward banked his career on that hire, and he failed.

A little more digging on google and you would find that Woodward gave JF a 10 yr 75 mil contract in 2017. aTm BOS extended JF contract in 2021 to 9 mil per year and back to 10 yrs. Woodward was gone in 2019 to LSU.

If JF was fired in 23 on his original contract from Woody he would have been owed about $30mil. His aTM extension is what gave him the $76 mill buyout.

Would have been the largest buyout in history until this year.

A contract he signed in 2017

The contract was not ridiculous at the time. Kelly was not going to come cheap…
