Ok I’ll say some more. Gilbert was not home sick or “sore.”
That was the coaching staff trying to protect him.
He was about to be suspended so he opted out. Also dealing with synthetic weed issues, so wasn’t really a quitter either.
But good riddance.

The moron who downvoted your and my posts must be a Florida fan who simply isn’t being realistic.

The kid was billed to be a superstar straight outta HS
Honestly, I don't think he delivered proportionally to the hype. The potential may be there but the hype was flawed.
I hope our secondary drops the dude cold.

On top of that, it is my understanding that he is academically ineligible at this time

I can't see how he is in good standing academically. He moved out and went home 2/3 the way through the semester.

It’s awkward watching a kid make a dumbass decision.

Anybody find it more than coincidental that arik Gilbert quit the LSU team right before the Florida game and now he is transferring there?

Or jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire. Either way you wanna look at it.

Bottom line is that LSU has Johnson/Brennan with a year’s worth of experience in addition to a quality offensive staff who will refine what they built on last year. Florida is like a poor man’s version of what LSU faced last season with inexperienced players.

And then to your point, it’s not like Gilbert was the 2nd coming of Travis Kelce (like he was billed to be).

He has three major things working against him.

1) NCAA transfer rule states:

-The student-athlete must have left their previous school in good standing academically and not facing disciplinary suspension.

Both of those things are problems for arik.as he is currently ineligible and suspended.

2) SEC still has the interconference transfer rule in place that states the player must sit a year

3) if LSU chooses, they can force UF to enforce the suspension on their behalf.

Unless he wins some major appeals, Arik may not play until late 2022. The character he has shows so far is that if it's likely he will sit for that long he may go Juco or not play at all and prepare for the NFL.

He’s clinically BI-POLAR ,guys. Where he goes to school is likely to change at least one more time and football is the least of his worries. I hope he gets the treatment he needs and has a productive life regardless of football.

Seems like a sideways move at best Arik. Best of luck to you. Hope you find your chest in Gainesville. Glad you'll be on the business end of the full Tiger Stadium crowd in the future.

Whatever..... I'm telling everyone right now, Jack Bech will end up being a super tight end/slot receiver. This kid has it all especially the willing to compete at a very high level.
Gilbert will be missing out on the revival of the LSU program. Fla will have a tough time in BR next fall.

Had nothing to do with any of those things.
