He's crazy to ask for Aranda type money.
we were crazy giving aranda 2.5 million when pelini and chavis had stats better than him and aranda had won nothing here until this year.
every tom, dick and harry now who is proven past, present or maybe even future will ask for heaven and earth because they saw what dave got with his stats. it is what it is.
the top 10 DC's start at 1.5 million
that is where we most prolly are looking at starting wise if we want a top 10 DC!
pau under 1 million and that could be a risky throw of the dice on a young up and comer?

at this point you are just being ridiculous.
no, LSU was not crazy to poney up whatever it took to keep Aranda.
stats are never the tell all to any story.
Aranda earned his money when it mattered most.. especially in bowl season against elite offenses. Chavis did not.
Chavis strictly relied heavily on elite talent and an offense that played time control..
At this point you are being so annoying I had to log back in to defend Aranda.
TREVOR frickING LAWRENCE was 18 of 37 234 yards and ZERO TDs in a championship game against Aranda's D
Clemson was 1 for 11 on 3rd down.
Show me ANY defense that has done that to them over the past 2 seasons.
I just can't take your pro Bo and not respecting Aranda enough any more.
You are fricking insane to compare Aranda to Chavis strictly on stats alone.
Aranda would have every bit the same stats as Chavis once did. If not better..
Also, you realize there is a market that helps drive price up? Aranda very much could have been at a&m and LSU made the right choice paying him his money.
I don't even see how you can debate that after what Aranda did in this championship season when it mattered most.
After the Ole Miss game, which didn't really matter considering LSU could have still by 4 TDs.. this D was among the best.
What he did against that OU offense was incredible, but what he did against Clemson was extraordinary... and you want to say that LSU paid him too much..
Get the frick out of here. He earned his pay, period.

Letting Aranda go would have been the biggest mistake ever.
What he did in the playoffs was spectacular.
Winning a championship would nullify any idea that he was overpaid. You can't even begin to put a price on that.
There was not a better DC in the entire country given what he had to go up against at the back half of the season and the type of adjustments he had to make.
Many DCs would have just kept the same plan in place and failed. Bo Pelini and Chavis. Aranda was able to make several adjustments.
There was certainly no 3rd and Aranda when it mattered most.
1 for 11 on 3rd downs for Clemson...
3rd down defense is far more important stat to me than any total yards or points given up if you have an offense that puts up big points any ways..
LSU finished this season ranked 6th in the entire NCAA in 3rd down defense..
That's better than Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Michigan st, Alabama.
That is the mark of a great DC. And that's facing some of the best offenses around.. The best schedule.

I don't want Pelini. He wasn't very aggressive his last year at LSU. Can't believe he let Kentucky and Arky score that many points with the defense we had.

Let’s just go pluck Dan Lanning from UGA and double his pay of $750k.

Your getting emotional again. Again before this year he hadn't won shite. Had he? Fact or emotion? So we need to keep saying this to remind you? Again you like others cherry pick a few games. I Never said he wasn’t very good THESe last few games ? Right? I NEBER BROUGHT THat up. Fact or your emotions getting best of you ? He never had a d RANKED as high as the guys I mentioned. Fact or your emotions knowing this making you emotionally upset? No need to melt over it just because he finally won a natty. Look at whole book of work. You only feel he was worth it now because of Natty. Most were saying for ages he was not worth that pay.
Keep living in a emotional world like a friggin libtard.

Actual retardation as it happens.

And not only can you not rebutt those facts.
Steele has a better PPG 3 out the last 4 years. Than. Aranda. Don’t melt now!! I know you can’t handle facts.
Steele makes less. Venables who btw coached in 4 nattys at Clemson alone. Yet both made less than Aranda.
Yeah you are a purely emotional guy who is using hindsight after natty which is 20/20. And ignoring achievements of others.
Aranda never has a 2 or 3 ranked total defense like the two I mentioned here at LSU. FACT. not emotional drivel like you are spewing. Now keep crying over it. El oh fricking El.

Meh...all things are relative sir. Aranda is a great DC but I don’t think he’s irreplaceable by any means.
The men you mentioned played a completely different game sir, ESPECIALLY COMPARED TO THIS YEAR.
1. More SEC teams have turned to spread offenses which increase offensive plays and possessions.
2. LSU itself has gone to a wildly successful spread thus creating more time on the field for LSU’s defense via the fact that we scored in mere minutes most of the time.
The aforementioned men played with a ball control offense that milked the clock like a herd of cows this creating less offensive opportunities for a FRESH defense.
Like I said...all things are relative. I think aranda is replaceable even in an atmosphere where there are A LOT more offensive coaches than defensive coaches worth their salt. But you sir, are silly.

Both of those games went to 3 OTs. That defense gave up 17 ppg in regulation. Even with 6 overtimes, the defense finished #2 in the SEC and #17 nationally in defensive ppg.
Yards/game - #1 SEC / #3 FBS
Yards/play - #1 SEC / #6 FBS
Completion percentage - #2 SEC / #2 FBS
Turnovers - #1 SEC / #5 FBS

Good points and easy to forget that this was under the typical maddening Les Miles' offense.
