Did Bo run a 3-4 when he was here?
Most quality DC’s can run either a 3-4 or a 4-3. Some even switch it up depending on down and distance. For most, it’s a matter of preference vs personnel. But it’s not like they only understand one scheme.

Of the times the ban hammer has been dropped on me, the current score is JJ (QB) 2 BDP 2. I’d like for that to remain tied

4 questions:
1) In what year did Pellini last serve as a DC?
2) How similar to 2020+ SEC Offenses was his last DC stint opponents?
3) In only apples-to-apples, how did his teams do?
4) How different is the day-to-day insight/focus into the intricacies of DC vs HC?
Come up with stout answers to these MOST PERTINENT questions, and your convincing is done.
Hope Coach O screens Pellini with the same pertinent items.
Cause that is the ONLY way that anyone can reasonably follow the "If good enough for Coach O, good enough for me" idea.

It’s not like he’s never seen a “modern” offense. Do people forget in 2007, Florida had an offense that included Tebow, Harvin, Ingram, and Caldwell, and it was ran by Urban Meyer. It’s not like they lit LSU up either.

and he is not coming to LSU. He is now the highest paid DC in the country and they play in a weak conference. Why would he come to LSU and have to battle the best week in and week out. His next stop is HC.

To be fair, Florida only had 9 possessions that game. (A 10th was and end of half play)Scores on 4 of them...ran out of time at the end of the game on another. They went 6-9 on third downs and almost averaged 5 yards per carry. LSU held onto the ball a LONG time. If not for a ball bouncing off a helmet, LSU was in big trouble. Florida only punted twice.

I don't like the idea of Pelini.
Yes, I know he's been here and had success and he did well at a garbage Nebraska and yadda yadda yadda...
Just doesn't fit the "high profile, homerun hire" billing like I would expect from an LSU staff that just bowled easily over all of CFB on their way to claim a national championship.
Seems like a very bland, meh hire if Pelini is the guy. And reportedly dislikes recruiting. May offer us more than one year of service which is a plus, but will the guy be aggressive enough on defense and run an attack style to compliment our offense?
It would be a bad hire. Pelini performed well for a little over a year and when the other coordinators deciphered his D, he had no come back.
A Peline hire would be a "black" mark on Coach O.
...and could jeopardize his future.
I know he is a hero now, (I have supported him form the beginning) but there are many lurking in the background who do not dare criticize now, but just waiting.

Someone directly used the Florida game as an example. I came back with it’s hard to get anything from that game because of these facts......
I really don’t care if they hire the guy or not.

By too much, do they mean more than Aranda was making at 2.5mill? Or that he’s wanting a significant pay raise from 200-300k? He was also getting paid around 1.5 a year from Nebraska due to a buyout.

Do you think Grinch would budge for $2m flat, plus incentives?
He would get a reputation as a hopper if he doesn't stay 3 - 4 at OU, but his next stop is likely a head coaching job, anyway.

I think it's odd that Coach O is back recruiting and nothing has been announced yet on offense and defensive side of who it will be. I'm sure offers have been made for both with deadlines, it's just surprising we haven't hard anything yet.

He wants Venables-Aranda money

yeah i was guessing 2 mill. geez, he wants even more than that. 2.2 to 2.5
he has zero leverage making 212 at YSU. Sounds like he really does not want job anyway.
oh well. next man up on list. whoever that may be
Posted on 1/21/20 at 1:33 pm to TheTexasTiger7
Kris was offered the job, but expressed no interest in recruiting.
Posted on 1/21/20 at 1:33 pm to kftiger1
Heard Pelini turned down the offer.

He's crazy to ask for Aranda type money.
Makes one wonder how much he has mellowed over the years...
