Hawkins was atrocious. He was taken out of every screen play by 180 pound receivers.

he tackled well,

definitely

if we're going to run this scheme, chad jones should be benched and PP should move to FS

it won't matter who our CBs are with this scheme

well no passes would mean an aamzing game

but to have few passes thrown your way = great coverage by a CB and shows the O fears you

PP had a good bit thrown his way, and they completed at least 6-7. no way you can tell me that was a GREAT game

look dork, take your 151,000 posts and get a life. after living on this board for a majority of your life it would seem that you might learn something. nobody respects your opinion because you are a shite starting twit.

have you ever tried to play man coverage on someone. I will answer that for you.....NO
he had a solid game with tight coverage. locker made some great throws against him. he will hold his own against julio and aj green.

but if that's a "great" game, then we're going to have a horrible defense this year

Dude, come on. I'm a mild LSU fan so I'm more rational about this than most of the people on here. Peterson was everywhere and made a lot of nice tackles. You act like he was playing man to man out there.

Nevis, Cutrera, and Peterson were all sick on defense.

SloFlo (which I imagine is menstrual code) is blaming PP for passes caught underneath coverage. That's a scheme issue, not a personnel issue.

I was very unimpressed with Chad Jones at FS. I thought he missed a bunch of tackles and was late in over the top coverage (specifically long completion at end of half which I thought Jai did a great job in coverage).

The only conclusion that I can rationally draw from this post is that you have absolutely no conception of how zone defenses work. Unfortunately, I have neither the time, the energy, nor the inclination to draft a zone defense tutorial for the functionally retarded. But I will give you brief anecdotes to prove how moronic your position is. For example, what if your zone is flooded by more than one receiver? What is the proper protocol in that situation? What if someone in front of or behind you misses their coverage? How do you react? What if you're instructed to allow passes to be completed within five yards of the LOS and to close on the receiver? What if there is a blitz scheme that leaves a checkdown receiver free? There are a plethora of situations in which a corner playing zone might perfectly execute his position and still have passes thrown in his vicinity. Your contention that a great CB doesn't have passes thrown in his direction naively asssumes that LSU is playing straight man to man on every single down and the corner has no run support responsibilities. Unfortunately, LSU plays real football in the real world, not elementary school playground football. Before you post, you should learn something about zone schemes.

My old man and I were actually commenting that PP would probably end up at FS at the next level bc of his excellent football instincts and tackling ability. Don't get me wrong though, I think his coverage skills are very good at CB, but I really think he would be something very very special at FS/SS.

his weren't on the completions. it was 1 man in his zone. 1 open man.

he was the man assigned to cover the receivers

i'm not counting the plays where he went from his zone to make a tackle in another area. i mean plays in his area

well i'm talking more about the passes completed in the 10-20 yard range, so those are irrelevant

and these didn't really happen tonite

I agree with you that Peterson will be a very good free safety in the NFL, especially if he gains a little bit more weight. He is already 6'1" and 211 pounds. I think in his freshman summer, they tried him at Free Safety a little bit, but he was quickly switched back to corner because he is better at coverage than anyone else on the team.
