Deon Sanders couldn't stop the intermediate passes playing that deep zone. Man on man he did well.

well i'm talking more about the passes completed in the 10-20 yard range, so those are irrelevant

he did not give up 6-7 plays of 10-20 yds.

his weren't on the completions. it was 1 man in his zone. 1 open man.

he was the man assigned to cover the receivers

i'm not counting the plays where he went from his zone to make a tackle in another area. i mean plays in his area

What if your instructed to allow passes to be completed within five yards of the LOS and to close on the receiver?

well i'm talking more about the passes completed in the 10-20 yard range, so those are irrelevant

and these didn't really happen tonite

Jesus, please don't compound your overt ignorance by pretending (a) that you had previously considered any of my anecdotal points; or (b) that you have closely analyzed the completions that Peterson allegedly allowed tonight. My god man, in the opening post of this thread, you didn't even know the precise NUMBER of passes Peterson allowed, much less the type and circumstance of each putative allowed reception. Your level of recollection has miraculously improved. It's ridiculous. Show some modicum of integrity and simply admit that you have no real knowledge of zone defense.

Not sure if that was meant as sarcasm, but just feel that his combo of size, speed, football instincts, and strong tackling would be more beneficial for the defense as a whole if he plays one of the safety spots.

a CB who gets 6-7 passes completed on him cannot have a good game, let alone a great game

I take it you know nothing about defense.

and then Hawkins and Jai on the corners?

He is a corner, he is the best player on defense so keep him at the hardest position on defense.

really sfp how stupid are you...you make asinine statements such as this and expect us to agree? i guess you are trying to boost the almighty post count? PP was clearly a strong point tonight.

Peterson played well, but not lock down. It may have had a lot to do with the scheme, but he did get passed on. He didn't play like a lock down corner since he's playing a zone scheme, but he made the tackles, which several of our LBers, DL, and other DBs couldn't.

I really wish Chavis would just go to a Man-2-Man defense like our talent fits. That is what killed us. Furthermore, Cooper's secondaries at USCe were predominantly in Man if I recall correctly, so something has to give. Man is a better scheme for LSU with their athletes, especially if you have Taylor at SS and McCray at FS who can both cover (despite what people think of McCray, he's a solid cover guy at FS).

Oh, OK, sure you did. That's why you so clearly and persuasively accounted for them in your opening post. Oh, wait, you didn't. Instead you posted an incomplete and naive hypothetical based on a vague contention that Peterson had six or seven passes "completed on him" tonight. Why, that nebulous and asinine statement was a perfect way to demonstrate your mastery of zone defenses. Of course you knew about my points. How could anyone have missed it.
