Yes, I misunderstood.

So, why did David Fry sign for $10k instead of closer to $197k slot? Injury? Compensated in salary instead of signing bonus?

I understand lack of leverage, but that's flipping burgers money.

Turang should come out and say " I was talking it over with my family last night and I decided I'm changing my price to $4.5 instead. How ya like me now"?

Sure. But he also has the dream of playing professional baseball. He has no leverage if he wants to continue to play the game. If he's willing to hang up his cleats because he didn't get a lot of money then he isn't the type of player that's going to cut it in the MLB anyway.

This is a silly statement. With a $10K bonus, he can survive for a couple of months. Some guys can't afford to struggle for peanuts. Some can. Financial hardship isn't an MLB skill.

With a 10k bonus his parents are going to have to support him until he gets some endorsements. Teams don’t exactly take care of minor leaguers. They have to pay for everything but their uniform.

Like I said he's probably Not going to make it few do. I hope he has a degree or something to fall back on when reality sets in.

He'll eat in the minors. He'll get travel and lodging paid for. He'll make enough salary to rent some shitty apartment in his team's hometown.

It won't kill him to play minor league baseball and if he wants to pursue the dream of playing in the majors he will suffer through it like thousands of other young men suffer it.

If getting a bonus of ONLY 10k is enough to make a player hang it up then he definitely doesn't have the drive to work through the minors

He'll get his bonus and his small salary, right? Not sure why your getting down voted. 10k + minimum wage is liveable. Especially when your chasing your dream to play in the majors.

It has to be a good sign that the Brewers are working on signing others, while working to have enough left over to sign Turang, rather than getting Turang signed and then using what is left to sign others right?

I guess it goes without saying the worst possible outcome here is the Brewers shell out whatever it takes to get him, they have nothing left over, and Cabell lands in the SEC.

The fact that they were able to sign guys like bello so quick make me think they got the deals they wanted to have enough for turang. But we still have a couple mote dominoes to drop, the longer it takes them to sign other guys the better IMO

No. It’s not liveable unless you have 5 other people sharing an apartment.

Which is what I'm sure minor leaguers in each town do. You make it work while attempting to make a career out of playing a game.

Thank you. If you want it you make the sacrifice. If the sacrifice isn't worth it to you then how much do you really want it?

Btw people in this country make it on just as little every day. Except they do it without a hope of a big payday and without playing the game they love.

It’s amazing the sympathy minor leaguers get. If I had the ability and opportunity, I’d drop whatever I was doing in a half a second.
