Trying really hard not to sound like a child here but frick Milwaulkee, drafting mostly all seniors so they can shaft them in order to sign their top picks. Not because of this but never liked the Brewers, this gives more reason to hate 'em. Nice dream while it lasted though.

It’s not over yet. Gray hasn’t signed yet and it really depends what he signs for. If he signs for less than 1.5, we’re likely done here.

Miss. Sportswriter said Joe flew to Milwaukee this morning to sign. I linked it above

All teams do it my man. Go look at rounds 7-10, more than 50% are seniors.
Either Brice will hold his number (which I think is 4 million by the way) or he won't.
Enjoy the ride.

I know, thanks Adam. Just love my Tigers.

This is one of my gripes with the mlb. Why lowball a kid just because he decided to stay for his senior year. There needs to be a rule that makes team pay slot value for seniors. Or at least a certain percentage.

I can’t hate the brewers. They’re named after beer.

Ben Sheets is the only reason I ever watched the Brewers

As a Cardinals fan, I think everyone should really pull hard against the Brewers for the next few days.

Then they would just fall to the bottom of the draft. Picks after the 10th round don't have a slot value attached to them. So they can sign them for as little as they please

What’s very interesting at least when I look at it is both Turang and Gray Jr we’re potential top 5 picks heading into the spring, if the Brewers get both then kudos.

One of my personal favorite things I own memorabilia wise is a Barry Zito/Ben Sheets rookie card that they both signed for me. Caught them at a card show in Phoenix during spring training. Both super nice people.

Bump with some thoughts...Rasmussen is not a RS-Sr. He is a RS-Jr with the option to petition for a 6th year, so he still has some leverage to go with his 1st round potential if he recovers from injury. I'd guess that between Rasmussen and the 9th round high schooler, the Brewers do not save much cap space.
If that holds true, that leaves the Brewers right at $5 million to spend between Gray and Turang without exceeding the 5% penalty on their pool. If the Brewers had to lose one of the two, I'd think they'd prefer to not sign Turang because of the compensatory pick they'd receive in the 2019 draft (pure speculation on my part).
Assuming Gray gets between $1.5 and $2 million, that leaves $3 to $3.5 for Turang. That would be a hell of a lot of money to turn down, but about a million less than he reportedly wants ($4-$4.5). Still a long shot, but not over yet.

Update on Gray per Ole Miss beat writer:
Someone commented and asked if he had any chance to show up on campus and he replied back saying zero chance. This is decent news for LSU, but will hold breath on the amount.

I expect Joe Gray to get a signing bonus above slot but below his initial asking price. He’s looking at seven figures pre-tax, either way

NEWS: Former Hattiesburg star and #RebsBSB signee Joe Gray is signing his pro deal with Milwaukee today. No surprise. He told me Wednesday that he’s putting pen to paper Friday, taking BP at Miller Park then he’s off to Arizona to begin his career Saturday.
