You might want to do a little more homework, we have been losing Ol for years. Check back. As far as the moving from DL to OL, thats a sign of a good OL coach. If you want more, let me know, I can give it.
Let me tell you, Les and Studs are doing a great job with the OL, check around....

Offensive line attrition under former OL Les Miles
TigerTap, football fans are much less patient in the '00s, than in the 60's-70's. If less has caught hell for 10-2 seasons, do you really think if Charlie Mac were coaching at LSU today with his old results he would have lasted 18 seasons.
Only because fans are far less knowledgeable, patient and mature than they were back then. The intant gratification crowd is loud and ever present. Much to the detriment of college football in general.
Charlie Mac's problem in part stemmed from the fact that from 1974 through 1979 he won only 4 games against teams with a winning record (specifically: Tennessee at 7-3-2 in 1974, South Carolina at 7-5 in 1975, Tulane at 9-3 in 1977, and Wake Forest at 8-4 in 1979). His overall record from 1974-1979 of 43 wins, 25 losses and 2 ties over that time isn't terrible, but you look at the number of "quality wins," they just aren't there. In other words of the 43 wins, 39 of them came against teams with losing records.
That is why the administration and fans lost confidence in Charlie Mac. He beat poor teams, but rarely beat good teams during those last 6 seasons. If one of the goals is to compete for championships, conference and national, you have to be able to beat good competition. Charlie Mac simply didn't do that for his last 6 seasons. That is the bottom line of why Charlie Mac was let go when he was.
While Charlie Mac was in a different era (fewer games, etc.), so a comparison to Miles is not entirely fair, Miles has won 20 games in 4 seasons against teams with a winning record.

Clay Spencer and T-Bob Hebert, so 19 in all. But you could have looked that up yourself and provided the additional information.

Yeah, I wasn't going to go into that.

I don't like to come in and flame on people trying to make legitimate points, but your post is so objectively wrong, I must point it out.

Les Miles has had way too much attrition for a head coach that is a former offensive lineman himself.
This is absolutely correct. If he held onto his linemen more, he would probably have at least one SEC title and national title.
Still waiting for an explanation on this xiv.

I'd take Porter recruiting a kid over about any coach in the nation.
National recruiter of the year(twice). Yeah I think I'll take my chances with Coach Porter.

Thanks to everybody for all the wonderful comments. Wish I had more time to spend on here going back and forth, but I'm too busy with a career/life/wife to spend all day and night sitting at a computer discussing LSU athletics. I can only pop in and out briefly during the day and in the early morning hours for a short time.

Then you might learn something.

Maybe if he raises the bar, he wont have to convert so many defensive linemen. (Hitt, Barksdale, Blackwell).......
Truth be known, Blackwells high school coach said that his position should have been on the OL from the start. He wanted to switch him from his high school days. This is also the same coach that switched Whitworth from TE to OT. The Barksdale move was one that I saw from the first tape I saw on the kid. A good coach can take a kid, make these kinds of moves and make them work. At one time Va. Tech. had more OL that were former TE's. Think of the moves in Eric Martin and Josh Reed from RB to WR.

So how many JC OL do we have? I don't thihk its that many.
Claude Wroten was a JC player and no one seem to give Saban grief over signing a JC player on DL.
As for converting DL to OL, no big deal. That's fairly common. In fact, I'd consider that a luxury that we are able to do that. Eric Andolsek was a converted DL and he was among the best OL to ever wear the P&G.
