While some of the halftime shows in recent years have been more entertaining, they are nowhere near as difficult and precise as the shows Tiger Band used to perform.
I honestly couldn't care less about halftime performances. I care about the money grab, the lower numbers, and the reduced sound. Victory Hill, Pregame, and the music from the stands during the game are what matter to me, personally. That, and they should go back to their old spot.

I agree with you 100%.

I can't believe Frank Wickes is allowing this shite. You'd think he'd still have a little influence.

Is there value in a band like TGBFTL anymore? Given all the restrictions and the piped in music it seems like they could just let local high schools have a bit of fun during halftime like the NFL. It would be cheaper, but certainly not better.
Make college football great again by bringing back traditions, such as all the songs they used to play.

Tiger Band is a shell of what it was under Frank Wickes and Linda Moorhouse. Scott Woodward needs to get the band moved out from under the School of Music and back under the Athletic Department.

Remember when the trumpet player bowed Auburn's place kicker for failure to get the frick out of the way. Ahhh good times.

That was glorious. The fans booed the shite out of the Auburn guy.

According to who? I don't like this particular bit that they perform, but to say they are one of the worst in the SEC is just asinine.
My take is there are more SEC bands above LSU than below.
Bands that are better....Auburn, Alabama, Miss State, Ole Miss, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Texas A&M.
LSU used to be ranked #1 by the SEC band directors when Wickes was the director.
LSU was featured in a Hollywood movie when Wickes was the director.
LSU was ranked in the top 10 of all college bands (Huffington Post poll) when King was the director.
LSU had two international performances (Ireland and Hong Kong by invitation) when King was the director.
Also, LSU was blown off the field at the bowl game by UCF.

I agree that Tiger Band is no longer one of the top bands in the SEC, but I'd still rank them ahead of bands from Ole Miss and South Carolina, although the latter has greatly improved in recent years (with an LSU alum as director).
It's true that they are a shell of what they once were under Frank and Linda. Even though they were essentially a "park and play" band under Roy King, they were still loud on the field and in the stands. Now, they are neither.

Regretfully, I agree. UCF's band was louder and their halftime show was better. Our stick figure spell out show was awful, and Tiger Band looked small and sounded weak in the stands.
I hope that Texas doesn't bring their 400 plus-member band to Baton Rouge in 2020. They're liable to drown out Tiger Band even from way up in the upper deck.

I don't give a freak about the halftime show or what they spell out or play. I haven't seen a halftime show in 30 years, nor do I care to.
I'm interested in what effect the band has on the game. The reason we're in Tiger Stadium for the football games.
The band used to have a monstrous effect on the game, the passion, the atmosphere. They set the tone.
With the advent of the crappy piped in music, the band's participation has diminished and the passion of Tiger Stadium has withered. They go hand-in-hand.
I know the young kids don't remember the majesty of Tiger Stadium because they're on their phones, but it once was glorious. It was magical.
Put down the phones, shut off the piped in music, bring the band back. Believe me, you'll have memories of a lifetime.

I never noticed it other than the A&M game. But boy howdy was that awful. I thought it was the aggie band the entire time and was going on and on about how awful it was.

In order to continue their "money grab" with the Tiger Band, they must have a weak Tiger Band director.
