It should. Tiger Band is one of LSU's most beloved traditions, and it's a shame what the current administration has done.
I hope that your kid plays a wood wind instrument because the current Tiger Band directors seem to prefer them over brass. TGBFTL used to have over 30 tubas alone, now it has about half that number.

My advice is to keep quiet because if you make waves, the current administration will find a way to make the band experience miserable for your child. When King was shoved out, they threatened band members with their scholarships. They also formed a "social media mafia squad" which used band members to troll social media with propaganda (at the direction of the band staff). These are people who have no business influencing young students. The students in the band are amazing young people, but they are scared of their staff.

If this is even remotely true, then it's no wonder that numbers continue to drop. Apparently, turnout has been low for the Golden Girl and colorguard auditions as well. I heard that there are three guys on the colorguard this season due to not enough girls trying out.

Since they stopped having Golden Girl features (as in the past), fewer girls have been trying out. I heard last year they had less than 40. When Wickes was there (and King), they had over 100.

Maybe some prominent Tiger Band alumni can reach out to Scott Woodward and see if there is a way to move the band back under the control of the athletic department. I'm sure that's easier said than done, because Talley, Queen, etc. won't take kindly to having their cash cow taken away.

Very shady stuff going on with these guys. There is an endowment (set up by King) for the Golden Girls. They are supposed to be receiving their $1000 Tiger Band stipend plus additional scholarship money from the endowment. I heard they are not getting these funds as described. They are also giving Tiger Band scholarship money to students who are not in Tiger Band. Shameful.
