Please baby Jesus, can anyone out there confirm that the band will not simply wail on their horns when the opponent has the ball?

I, like many, would prefer that this number go down as a dark memory in LSU history.

The A&M game was the worst. I ended up muting my tv after the 2nd overtime.

Maybe I'm not listening close enough to games, but when did this happen?

I couldn't tell if that was a dying jackass or a hippo in heat. Make it stop.

It is constant and to be honest it is embarassing. It sounds like the band's of SWAC.

It happened all season long. The band started this thing where the horns and shite like wail really loud and then go really low really quick and they do it constantly while the other team is on offense. It's annoying as frick, and maybe that's why they do it, but it sounds like shite and they need to stop doing it. There's other things they can do besides that.

I honestly loved it. I was at the A&M game, and although our fan contingent was loud, the pep band added to that with their shrieking. I think it’s another great way to use the band to our advantage.

You are very much in the minority.
The band is now one of the worst in the SEC. They sound very weak (lack of brass and numbers) and look worse. Spelling stuff and making kindergarten pictures on the field have become old/stale. Playing that awful noise while on defense is nothing more than high school crap. I wish that band was above that kind of juvenile behavior. My guess is they will continue to play that garbage.

Making our fans cover their ears and turn off their TV sound is not to our advantage.

Hopefully since the director ran off to Oregon they'll start recruiting more members and get the full numbers again. He's seen a decline in numbers everywhere he's been a director. The band sound has been weak AF the last couple of seasons.

I don't really mind it much, but I can see how people get annoyed by it. It's like they're trying to build suspense or something, and it just comes off bad to most.

Amen! I honestly thought I was the only one who is totally disgusted with that crap...I wanted to take a vote to have NECK played again. It gets the players and fans hyped and as a former player, that's just where you want your team to be. Is anyone out there able to get that message to the band director? It's super annoying for everyone.

It happens when the defense is on the field. They just play long droning random tones, so it sounds like what you get when you mash down keys on an organ or like the bin of rubber ducks.

I agree. However, I'm not convinced the guy they promoted (Kelvin Jones) is up to the task. He was "co-director" of the band last year. Here are a few links to Mr. Jones' work as a high school director. This is the quality product that convinced Damon Talley he has the "right guy for the job." All I did was do a youtube search for Kelvin Jones (and read his bio)! If you are a fan of the band (as I am), you should be very concerned about the leadership of Damon Talley & Kelvin Jones.

The best bands in the country? Lol yeah you wish clown. It’s a reason why Southern is called the “Human Jukebox”. Let me know when LSU’s band plays at the Super Bowl 6 times, for a President’s inauguration, be named as Best band by USA Today, ESPN, and the NCAA.

It’s about like listening to the Vandy whistler. Annoying.

LSU always rested when LSU on defense and played when LSU on offense. Is last year the first time this was changed?

I always remember neither LSU nor the opponents would play while LSU on defense. It’s only played LSU on offense.

This must have changed just last year.

Don’t worry man I’m well versed and agree. Letting Linda Moorhouse walk is the worst mistake LSU’s ever made that no one talks or knows about.

Is it an aggravation level similar to the Vandy Whistler? If so, please make it stop!
