NW Demons to start their weekend ace against LSU tonight

If there’s any doubt about how meaningful today’s game is for Northwestern State, consider Davis’ pitching plans. Demons ace Luke Irvine will get the ball against the Tigers three days after notching seven innings (105 pitches) and allowing only two hits in a 10-0 triumph against Texas-San Antonio.
The hard-throwing Irvine struck out nine Friday to up his season total to 74, which ranks among the top 15 nationally. His strikeouts-per-nine-innings rate is 12.7, which is in the top-five in the country.

2-3 times through the batting order, and we start smacking him around.

No excuses for the Demons, not that I really blame them. This game is huge for them, LSU at home, never happens for them. Trying to get a win for their fans. I'd like it if I were a fan

Isn't the game in Shreveport not Natchitoches?

It was originally at NSU home game and they moved it to neutral field.

The pattern of in-state schools throwing their Ace against LSU then going on to lose their more-meaningful conference series continues.
As a fan of LSU who roots for all in-state schools, I wish they would just play their normal rotation, anything can happen. Throw your ace and you may lose all 4.

Probably has to do with we finally cracked into the rankings in one of the polls and we also have a pretty tough week starting tonight with LSU and then road series in San Marcos at Texas State. Our RPI also took a pretty good hit losing that 1st game at nicholls state weekend before last and dropping it down to 55.
Here's to a good game tonight with no injuries. I doubt Irvine will pitch more than 5 innings because of the more important weekend series at Texas State.

yea i would think a win against LSU would do more for their RPI than a weekend loss to a conference opponent

Wow 3 days rest? who's coaching NW now, skip?

I sure am glad that LSU plays at Ole Miss and not Texas State this weekend!

Yeah that 3 days rest thing sucks for the pitcher.
I guess that he will try to pitch again during Northwestern's weekend series.

Geez guys, I know we focus on LSU here but Texas State is known nationally this year. They beat SELU and an error in the 9th cost them vs UT.
NSU going to Sheveport, then to Baton Rouge, then to their conference leader IS a tuff stretch. Chill out.
