re: ULM run ruled again

I followed the past two coaching changes pretty closely and I never even heard of that dude...not to say his name wasn't mentioned as someone to look at, but "offered the job" may be a bit of a stretch. Our previous coach was a "hire within" who was with the program when Mitch Gaspard was the HC and our current guy, Lane Burroughs, is a pretty solid hire with a great background.

Like I said, being offered the job and a potential candidate is two different things. But you've got me curious so I'm gonna do some digging.
Going full homer on this one...but I gotta go with my 2006 Northwestern State Demons that took down Iowa with the 3-pt buzzer beater...the Hawkeyes were #11 and fresh off their Big 10 tourney win. In the 2nd round it looked like we might pull it off again against WVU and Pitsnogle...we cut it to 8 with 5:00 left but couldn't get the shots to fall down the stretch.

2006 was just a great tournament, period!

LSU Tigers that year were awesome and that 2006 George Mason squad was great!

We have Oral Roberts to contend with...winning the SLC is not guaranteed.

Same to you...Tech will continue to improve throughout the rest of the year. Good Coach, good D and solid players.

Also, prior to the NSU game you had only played two teams with a winning record...SEMOSt and UA-LR...so maybe the shooting % may have been a little decieving...

Funny...all of the other Techsters on your board said that the refs were bad, but consistently bad for both teams.

Maybe you shot 35% because we played good defense? Naaaaaah...

Thanks for letting us win...

"Clearly the better team"? Are you frickin' serious?

- The NSU DEMONS lead 38 of the 40 minutes!
- Despite shooting 50% from the FT line compared to our usual 70% we still managed to beat the brilliant, almighty Techsters.
- As clearly stated by people by people on the LaTechBBB who attended the game the NSU Demons have the better team, manhandled your boys in the paint and played good D to keep your one or two players in check.
- NSU's three losses are to OU, who we lead until the final 2 minutes, LSU by 7 and TAMU by 13.
- NSU ranks 5th nationally in PPG, 16th in Rebounds, 49th in assists and 20th in FG %. Compared that to 67th, 62, 107 and 229 for Tech.

"Clearly the better team"? I think not...

Though I will say Tech does have a good basketball squad...young and a new coach...but a good team.
Probably has to do with we finally cracked into the rankings in one of the polls and we also have a pretty tough week starting tonight with LSU and then road series in San Marcos at Texas State. Our RPI also took a pretty good hit losing that 1st game at nicholls state weekend before last and dropping it down to 55.

Here's to a good game tonight with no injuries. I doubt Irvine will pitch more than 5 innings because of the more important weekend series at Texas State.
Yes and no. Neither team started weekend pitchers...I am sure both teams wanted the W.
Do you follow college baseball at all? The more knowledgeable baseball fans on this board will tell you that NSU has had a strong program for almost the past 20 years

Me either...Broughton is one of our strongest pitchers. Did he pitch against LSU in the '05 Regional? Zimmerman for us pitched extremely well and Lott in relief as well.

Good Game Tigers...hopefully we can steal a win next time.
GMorgan...outstanding job with the game updates. Much faster than the Live Stats...at least from over here in TX.
