Is there a breakdown on what percentage of passing plays he's been pressured in the first 5 games of last year compared to this year?

He's always played scared. Always. So, if he's getting more pressure than last year, the differences in stats shouldn't surprise anyone.

I mean of course Nuss has regressed. That’s not debatable. I agree with everyone saying he is playing injured.

But the OL is the worst part of this offense currently, which is also not debatable. Can’t even block a 3 man front filled with portal guys.

I had heard that MVB wasn't that impressive in Fall camp but also heard that he also had and arm or hand injury that affected his play back then. Seems to be healthy now. Either way he started 9 games last year and played decent enough against GA and TX on the road. He deserved a few series against Ole Miss for sure.

From what I heard he was looking pretty good heading into Clemson and then after Clemson he aggravated something. Unclear on if it happened during the game or in prep for Tech but that is when they should have sat him. He likely could have sat for Tech, Florida, and South Eastern and either been ready for Ole Miss by being a little healthier or wait until South Carolina to let him rest another few weeks with the bye. But he wanted to play and he just hasn't been right.

Coaching staff continues to lie about it and the BTR media just lets them off the hook and push their BS so they don't have to be concerned about access.

I'm actually suprised his 2025 numbers are that "good", especilly completion %. Seems like he is playing way worse than those numbers.

I expect the downvotes and that's ok; I can handle it, but........

I completely agree that something is wrong with Nuss. He does not have the zip nor distance on his throws, which makes me think he is indeed injured. And while that doesn't exactly explain the bad decisions, anyone that's ever had a strength that is suddenly compromised should know that it will get in your head and affect decision making. That being said, for argument sake, maybe he isn't injured at all and he just isn't that dude.

If he's injured, I wholeheartedly agree we need to make a change and let Nuss recover.

However, my question is, to all the people that are convinced a change to MVB will save our season, what are we basing that on??? I truly think MVB as well as Colin Hurley will be great Tigers. But if we compare last season's numbers, I think everyone would take the stats Nuss put up. So that makes me think those people are looking at MVB's performance for the SLU game this season, which I thought he looked great. However, Nuss also looked like the Heisman candidate that we all were hoping for, during that game (with 4 dropped passes that if caught, he's next to perfect).
Again, if Nuss is hurt, we absolutely need to make a change until he's better. If he's not, maybe MVB truly is the answer. I just tend to want to believe that there's a reason he didn't beat out Nuss for the job in the first place. I'm not going to base my feelings on a game that both QB's looked like the #1 and #2 QB's in the SEC.

Downvote away!!!! lol

That completion % is mostly from throwing WR screens. I bet on passes over 2 yards from LOS, he's 50%.

The TD's is the biggest part.

Incorrect. MVB with significantly lesser talent at Miss St as a True Freshman scored 20 or more points in 5 of 8 games. Nuss has yet to score 20 points vs any Power 4 team. Look at how Underwood did vs OU and Nebraska. MVB is heisman numbers compared to that. So with better talent than Miss St, being a Sophomore now, he's the better option.

MVB averaged 7.4 YPA in a sole SEC slate. Nuss has averaged 6.0 YPA vs Power 4 so far.

Heard Nuss wasn’t being truthful about injury and downplaying severity to coaches

Lmao so you’re telling me that I can tell the injury is affecting his play from my couch but the coaches who watch him everyday at practice can’t? That’s pretty absurd.

This graphic is misleading. Nuss played Nicholls, South Alabama and UCLA during this 5 game stretch. He threw 6 TDs against Nicholls alone and as mdomungue so astutely pointed out in a previous post, South Alabama and UCLA finished 134th and 118th nationally in pass defense, respectively.

11 of those 17 TDs came against those 3 opponents alone.

Far cry from playing at Clemson, Florida’s defense, and at Ole Miss.

I could absolutely see that being the case.

I mean, look at the Southeastern game. Adjust for the drops, and Nuss would have been what, 30 for 31 and almost 300 yds, right? So it would be something that simply involves pushing through the pain.

And remember, his father IS an NFL OC, and has been a QB coach awhile. Dad knows the game, and he knows that this is Garrett's "money year" to position for the draft; and that once drafted he would sit awhile behind someone with experience... an offseason and probably at least a rookie year to recover.
And Dad also knows (as does Garrett) that the backup is a gifted guy with a full season of SEC starts under his belt, who is physically suited for Sloan and Kelly's offense. Say Van Buren looks good the whole Southeastern game, and then leads the team to a win on the road at Ole Miss... is the job still open when Nuss comes back? You know Kelly wouldn't mind having a sophomore with 2-3 years to play take over the QB spot.

Dad may well have advised him to suck it up.
