Nuss can’t catch a break
The day he gets the start for the bowl game, we get a commitment from his competition for the starting job next year.

When you sign up to play in the NCAA, you become a big boy. You have to compete and earn your spot. Someone is always coming to get it. If they get it, you weren't good enough. Then you can stay and try to win it back. Or go find another home. That is how competition works.
Competitors dont cry about it, just beta crybabies. I'd bet Nussmeir has the "bring it on approach".

Should the staff leave 3 walk ons behind Nussmeir to keep him safe and secure??

If Nuss wins the job, let's ride.

If Swann wins the job, let's ride.

Hell, if Ricky surprises everyone and wins the job, let's ride.

Competition is good.

I'm really not trying to be mean here, but man big time college football is not about who deserves what and who's waiting patiently for their turn to play. That is HS BS, and a lot of the posters on the rant have that mentality, most likely from what they experienced in their HS playing days.

The elite of the elite get the playing time at LSU, and that's how it should be. By the way, I fully expect Nuss to be a HEISMAN CANDIDATE over the next two years with the OL and weapons he'll have around him.

They brought in Swann because they have full belief in Nuss. What they don’t have is full faith in rolling with 3 QBs on roster and two inexperienced backups, Swann is easily the best we could’ve gotten who would be okay not starting

Thread could've stopped here.

If Nuss can't beat out a Vandy QB then we are in trouble

I'm still pissed he didn't play in the bowl game vs. K-State.

You have to take EVERY opportunity you have. I get it that the NCAA didn't give him the pass for the year. However, he plays, we win that game.

Competition is even more fierce now with the portal, he has to step his game up.

Nuss will 100% accept the competition. This is a way to make him better, and provide quality depth should the starter go down

Sure he will.

But Burrow and Daniels were brought in to be the starting QB. Even if the HC didn't say as much publicly to keep the illusion of an "open competition" in place.

Swann's not coming in to be the starter. If it turns out he looks much, much better than Nussmeier in camp that could change. But right now his primary role is depth

Just to be clear you think a kid who had started for Vandy is going to come to LSU to be a backup? Why? Is he from BR? Better education? Likes BR better than Nashville? The kid clearly thinks there is an opportunity. No way he came without being told he would have a chance to compete.

An ex Vandy basketball player scored over thirty points in the second half for LSU vs Texas. He made the game almost respectable.
An ex Vandy OL, Tyler Steen, played for Bama and is now playing for the Eagles, NFL.

I mean yes you want to see the guy who has been waiting get his chance right? Of course.
But in the end... would you rather someone get his chance or rather LSU win? Not saying Swann is going to take the job from Nuss, but if he did - so what? If he's better, it's better for LSU football. Aren't you glad we didn't have all of our eggs in the Brennan basket?

Whoever the starter is, I sure hope people here will finally trust that this staff knows who is the best option.

We did for 2 years straight. Why is it you clowns can't fathom that Nuss is the best option not just the guy who waited his turn?

He's no competition and what he thinks is irrelevant. I hope he gets pissed too when he doesn't start.

This is NOT Nussmiers job. He’s got a good chance due to him being there but 2024 is a new year.

Thank you for waiting your turn but you still have to earn the job. If someone can come in and win the job then they’re the guy. Burrow did it and JD did it. Not saying it’ll happen again but let’s stop with this “Nussmier deserves it” narrative.

100000% agree. He showed who he really is when that moment happened. It’s not like Brad Davis was refusing to allow it. He clearly gave him the choice.

You can play the game. Continue history rich LSU continue their streak of being over .500 and burn the red shirt. Ball out and put the team on your back. Etch your name in LSU lore.

Or you can opt out and force LSU to trot out a WR at QB only to get completely embarrassed.

This shite stuck with me. LSU is a place with a lot of pride and tradition and we don’t get blown out by K State. Could we have lost regardless? Sure but a complete no show was a slap in the face.

You can sit there and say oh it’s just the texas bowl whatever. Would Danny Etling have done this? Would Burrow have done this? QB1 at LSU isn’t for everyone.

I'm with you, completely stuck with me as well. I hate losing the last game of the season.
