Opinions like arse holes. Aaron Rodgers wasn't perfect in college and continued to develop well into his NFL career. Im just saying Nuss has the tools to be that guy

Burrow + Brees + Tebow + Fournette + Reggie Bush = Nuss

In all seriousness he'll probably be like Mett but more mobile

I got a million downvotes when I said Nuss reminds me of Aaron Rodgers.

The Favre comparison was right there for you!

Throwing motion and playing style is way more Favre than Rodgers.

Just on arm liveness? Absolutely

Would you bet that Nuss won't have better stats, in his first year as a starter, than Burrow and or Daniels?
Just curious.

Arm strength has a lot more to it than just flinging it downfield

You and the OP are confusing your terms. OP said Arm Talent but in a later post says arm strength. Arm strength is, in fact, simply flinging it down the field. Arm talent is so much more than that.

Rogers doesn’t have a gunslinger mentality

The best thing about him as a QB is his low Int rate.

By arm talent I mean the co
No or strength and accuracy…. I believe that at a first year starter, Nuss has better arm talent than both Heisman winners before him. Doesn’t mean I believe him to be in their ball park for talent. But just judging arm and ability to hit throws. I think he is the best of the three.

I know he’s not well thought of around here, but Brandon Harris had a cannon.

Another good response. Again the point of the thread. I think B Harris could sling it

Just curious.

It’s an interesting point, considering our memories of both guys are mainly based on their final years.

Out of curiosity I took a look at the LSU record books to see where their first seasons ranked.

LSU Single-Season Standings:

Burrow 2018
Attempts - #3 (379)
Completions - #7 (219)
Completion percentage - NR (57.8%)
Pass efficiency - NR (133.2)
Pass yards - #7 (2,894)
Touchdown passes - NR (16)
Yards per game - #8 (222.6)

Daniels 2022
Attempts - #2 (388)
Completions - #2 (266)
Completion percentage - #3 (68.6%)
Pass efficiency - #10 (144.5)
Pass yards - #6 (2,913)
Touchdown passes - NR (17)
Yards per game - NR (208.1)

Unfortunately it gets pretty tough to compare historical quarterbacks because the game has changed so much. Both guys are in the top 10 all-time for a bunch of stats, but they’re also #2 and #3 all-time for attempts. Also, somewhat annoyingly, the LSU record book doesn’t list single-season yards per attempt (only single-game).

So I also looked at each QB’s SEC rankings in their first year.

SEC Rankings:

Burrow 2018
Attempts - #6 (379)
Completions - #8 (219)
Completion percentage - #11 (57.8%)
Pass efficiency - #12 (133.2)
Pass yards - #7 (2,894)
Touchdown passes - #11 (16)
Yards per game - #7 (222.6)
Yards per attempt - #10 (7.6)

Daniels 2022
Attempts - #4 (388)
Completions - #3 (266)
Completion percentage - #2 (68.6%)
Pass efficiency - #6 (144.5)
Pass yards - #7 (2,913)
Touchdown passes - #9 (17)
Yards per game - #11 (208.1)
Yards per attempt - #9 (7.5)

Both were basically middle-of-the-pack in the conference. Daniels’ numbers were a bit better compared to the conference but I think at least some of that can probably be attributed to a combination of scheme and continuity on the OL - recall that we had a revolving door in OL in 2018 due to injuries and wound up having to run a bunch of max protect.

In any case I think one reasonable way to look at the question is to ask whether Nussmeier will be in the top half of SEC quarterbacks this year. Personally, I would hope so. I think he’s going to have to be in that range if we are going to have any success, unless our running game just becomes dominant (which, to be honest, wouldn’t necessarily be shocking).

He’s Baker Mayfield with a stronger arm.

Let’s maybe wait to see what Nuss does when the games actually matter before we put him ahead of 2 heisman winners. Daniels has a hell of an arm. Such a natural thrower of the ball

Burrow and Nuss will have similar experience as first time starters.
Daniels had three years as a starter prior to entering LSU.

Burrow or Daniels weren't that efficient either until their final seasons. He will have a learning curve, but he has an NFL arm and is football smart and mobile enough to avoid pressure and run on occasion. I feel like he will be a star and probably an even better NFL QB.

Bert Jones and JaMarcus Russell. I haven’t seen an arm like that at LSU besides these two.
